Very pleased to have discovered this restaurant. I usually don't take photos but everything was presented very beautifully and together with great service and humbling warming experience we have enjoyed a lot our experience. Very traditional japanese restaurant... Hope to visit again soon. All plate concepts were amazing especially the 'decontructed sukiyaki' main plate. Thank you very much!

Comí con mi novia ayer, día 30 de mayo de 2022, mientras esperábamos un bus en el intercambiador de Avenida de América, que está justo al lado. Buscábamos un sitio para comer y vimos este japonés, pensando que sería un sushi más del montón, pero ni mucho menos. Nada más entrar, nos sorprendió que dos de los camareros (una mujer y un hombre) eran japoneses y los dos clientes que había en la mesa de al lado nuestro también eran japoneses. Sí, japoneses, no chinos como sucede en otros sushis o restaurantes asiáticos, ya que hablaban japonés y sus rasgos eran claramente japoneses. Eso de ver ciudadanos japoneses dentro de un sushi en España no lo había visto nunca, incluso en los estrella Michelín, por lo que es algo que me sorprendió para bien. En cuanto a la comida, tienen carta y menú diario a 17 euros. Además tienen un menú de degustación de 58 euros que hay que reservar. Nosotros pedimos dos menús de 17 euros, con sopa miso, entrante, plato principal y helado de té verde de postre. He de decir que todo me pareció muy bueno. En resumen, un japonés muy auténtico, discreto y sorprendente que no te lo esperas. Volveremos.

An absolute surprise of a place! Not only all the food was perfect but the staff is incredibly nice and attentive. In my opinion, special mention to the karaage, which not all the places make it that good! You should definitely pay them a visit if you want traditional and superb japanese food.

This is my love letter to Wagara restaurant.

To put some perspective, I worked in 6-star resorts (private airplanes) and eat all sorts of the 2/3-star food often.

There is nothing quite like Wagara. It truly is very, very special. I like it more than Michelin places.

The food is so, so good. They could charge 4x as much and it would feel totally OK (but of course I am happy they don't).

You get cared for. It's like you eat in someone's living room, with the same care and affection, but then with insanely good food. I think right now it has a 4.8 on Google and it's definitely earned that. Every place in the city center with this rating is full every night, but with Wagara, you can often just get a table.

And it's better than anything Madrid center has to offer.

Good taste in music, too. Nujabes and other classics.

Delicious, caring, real, family-style. Authentic. The staff are lovely.

Most places you pay 20 euros for a shitty sushi roll, here you pay 10 and your life is changed through flavor.

The restaurant does not have the right attitude for Japanese food but charge a high price. I ordered Ramen, to my surprise, they use instant noodles and change me almost 18 euros for it. The noodle soup also very plain and it is nothing special. Why I should spend 18 euros for a 2 euro instant noodle? The reviews looks fake. Be careful of their price and food. I would suggest this restaurant to use the real fresh noodles...
