Avoid. Only getting 1 star as its there is no option to select zero. Where to start.....Well the greeting should have been enough to generate a U turn but we ventured on as our hotel had recommended the restaurant. I was waiting for Gordon Ramsay to appear throughout the meal to advise us this was a stitch up and we were going to be on a Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmare's episode. I think this job goes beyond Gordon's capability. Imagine having a prime real estate restaurant with 24x7 turnstile capability of turnover and to be serving 'Birds Eye' quality frozen food?
People - save yourself reading the reviews. This place is very comfortable but there is one particular stand out rude staff member and the others work at turtle pace. The waiter even tried to make a lame excuse that they are tired from working so hard and normally the customer service is better. Well, if I had of read the reviews in advance I could have saved a bunch of time so hopefully others won't be duped into the mistake my family of 6 fell into.
The mussels are gargantuan and closer to a novelty rubber/eraser. The waiter said they are from New Zealand and they are not native to the area. Information they could have told us in advance.
The mains came with freezer burn frozen veg. Maybe LIDL or ALDI quality and imagine them if they were gone off.
Overall I would avoid this place but its very easy to be lured into the cosy portside location and poor recommendations from hotels.
This was the worst dining experience I've encountered in the last decade. Congratulations Cafe De Mogan for the merde show you...
Read moreAvoid at all costs, raw meat was served to me and my son. Half eaten before noticing as covered in BBQ sauce. Informed waitress who apologised, took food only to return with the same half eaten burgers which had been put in microwave *as burger bun and sauce were now crispy and fries which were still on the plate.... inedible. Sent food back and asked for the bill so we could pay for the other meal my partner had eaten (salad) and drinks we had. Bill came and they expected us to pay for 1 of burgers. I refused as we hadn't eaten either of the 2 burger meals, they threatened to call Policia. I agreed that I would pay for the salad meal and drinks but they became rude, aggressive, refused and went to call police again. As my son and partner were upset i paid the bill. This is a great location, great harbour, beautiful town but this restaurant spoilt the day. I would not even bother looking at this place as there are loads of other nice places... wish we had gone elsewhere and given them our money. This place needs investigating before someone becomes...
Read moreCafé de Morgan is an absolute gem that I had the pleasure of discovering recently. The experience was exceptional from start to finish. One of the highlights of my visit was undoubtedly the crispy calamari. Perfectly fried to a golden crisp, the calamari was tender on the inside and bursting with flavor.
