We found this lovely place at lunchtime on our first day when we stopped for a beer to escape the market. The owner was so lovely that we came back for dinner that night and we were not disappointed. We ordered a T-bone and two underloin steaks which were all beautifully cooked and tasty. We had carrot cake and apple cake for pudding, that's the best carrot cake I've ever had. We were also given a croquette each to taste as a starter and these are divine, best in the area in my opinion. What makes this place truly special is not the outstanding food but the amazing hospitality on display from every member of staff, we felt truly welcome. It was so good we came back for another evening meal which didn't disappoint and neither did the fab atmosphere. We also came back for lunch on our last day... fab tapas. This is a truly special place.
Edit: returned again this August 2024 with more family who also fell in love with this fantastic restaurant. The food remains exceptional... We visited twice for dinner so I even tried some fish which was equally good as the exceptional steaks. Dad and brother in law were big fans of the lamb shoulder. On our last day we came for lunch and indulged in lots of tapas dishes: the croquettes are still the best, the calamari also deserves a special mention as it is incredible. The staff and service are still incredibly special and you have amazing memories. Thank you for 3 more...
Read moreWe loved it! We went last night and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. If you're judging on food and value, the best restaurant in Puerto de Mogan for us. Service was slow but we walked in on a very busy Saturday night so we didn't mind too much. I knew the food was going to be good when I tasted the steak tartare. Perfectly seasoned and beautifully fresh, plus a generous portion too. The burger was very good as well. (Could do without the silly presentation). The mushroom rissotto was sublime. I rarely order risotto as you really need to know how to do it properly. Whoever the chef is can really properly cook! The T bone steak was excellent, a quality product (reminded us of the amazing txuleta from the basque country) and they cooked rare as we like it. We didn't bother with that gimmicky grill, no need if it's already been cooked properly by an expert! We took some home as again, these are generous portions. To conclude a rare excellent restaurant just off the beaten tourist traps. If you love simple quality good food cooked skillfully, then go here. We're planning on returning on the same holiday for more, and we...
Read moreThis place was one of our favorite meals on the island! My partner almost didn't want to go strictly based on the location (it's slightly away from the main drag of the marina in a back plaza), and some of the decor & menus look a bit like Applebee's or Chili's - but I'm glad I convinced him, based on the reviews I read prior to coming.
The risotto took 30 mins to make - which is always what you want for a great quality risotto. It was phenomenal.
The paella was also yummy - admittedly not my favorite on the island (have to go up to Las Palmas for that), but it was tasty.
We started with a pan com jamon y tomato - also delicious.
They even had an amuse-bouche (homemade croquettes) which were very very good.
The service was also super friendly & funny - our server was Diego. Top notch! He even gave us a recommendation of where to visit the next day on Gran Canaria (we went - & he was spot on, again).
Definitely don't judge a book by its cover, as I told my partner. Had a lovely meal here & would absolutely come back...
