Mar Y Monte — Restaurant in Mogán

We were persuaded to eat here by the restaurant tout who shook my hand to say the food would be free if I didn't enjoy it. We sat inside which was actually abit too dark for daytime eating. The staff were very friendly and keen to serve until they got our order wrong. We wouldn't of ate there knowing the dish I wanted was unavailable. At the time of ordering, I pointed to what I wanted, even said the number of the dish and described exactly what I wanted. The dish that was served was different and actually not as fresh or tasty as the waiter insisted it was. So we were highly disappointed with our restaurant experience and expectations. We spent over €80 and left rather disappointed. The drinks, bread and my friend's steak was nice but very expensive for the overall quality. Only the aioli and bread was made to a high standard. The rest of it was clearly frozen cheap ingredients. Do not recommend as there's plenty of good choices around that area. It kind of ruined our experience...

Average place with average food. Except for a decent non-alcoholic cocktail and delicious canarian fish (sea bass, I think), everything else was bland and didn’t seem fresh to me. The calamari tips seemed to be cooked in old oil. The prawns, salmon and goat cheese salad didn’t have any dressing, goat cheese was super intensive (more like Camembert) and I got 4 olives in total. The service was nice, except for a very pushy individual almost dragging in people walking by. They have tried to charge us ridiculous €6.50 for a small plate of dry penne pasta that we ordered for our 8 months old baby, but they reduced the final price by half. Which is nice. The place seems like a trap, only seeing tourists with their big wallets full of $$, but as we wanted to eat something, and the place had great reviews, we walked in. We have just spend two weeks in Mogan, we came here every other night - all the nights we did not go, we ended up regreting not going here. The staff is everything, they make the children feel so special. Our girl fell completely in love with Francisco. Our son loved playing football with Yosef. Jorge - the man of many talents, might be the best waiter ever. And Leo thank you so much for amazing food. And please forgive the wonderful greeter with the hat (Enrique?) for trying to bing you in, he will be doing you a huge favor.
