Personally my partner and I really enjoyed it. On TripAdvisor it's rated the second best restaurant in all of Puerto Rico. If you take into the account how cheap the meal could be with the quality of presentation and taste of the food than it's absolutely superb. The problem is if you rate it 5* than people compare it with restaurants charging double the price that are also 5* restaurants. I'd say this restaurant is priced well. My partner's starter, main and drink cost less than €12. Admittedly mine was nearer to €30 haha! But that's only because I have a weird need to try expensive meals on holiday. If we go back I think we'd both have a starter, main and drink for less than €30 total.
We arrived at around 8pm and there we still only a few tables left. We walked straight in but the two after us were asked if they had booked and were told to come back later (which they did). I continued to see people coming in past 9pm for dinner it never seemed to stop. You know that's a good sign!
Please don't be put off by its appearance/location. It's doesn't look great from the outside in but the food and atmosphere is perfect. And the price! No complaints at all.
I started off with avocado, prawns and salmon for just under €7. I'd have this again no worries. My partner had garlic bread for €1.95 (which comes with an extra garlic butter dip).
We both ordered a fantastic with "no ice" expecting to get a tiny glass. We were pleasantly surprised to find the glasses being big enough to last the whole meal without ordering a second. Very nice surprise!
I then had baby lamb shoulder, one of the most expensive dishes on the menu at €20. I enjoyed the meal but I wouldn't have it again as I think for being one of the most expensive you expect either more food or something amazing. However, my partner has spaghetti Bolognese at less than €7 (which I finished off for her) and that tasted absolutely beautiful! It's not a huge portion, but it filled my partner up quickly and the taste of it is by far the best spag-bol I've ever tasted in a restaurant.
I'll definitely be back to try other food here. We've said we'll come again on our last day so we finish on a high. Everyone in there seemed super happy with their meals and watching the plates arrive I wanted to try a million different things! Belly pork looks great and so does the pork loin.
We didn't have dessert but the lady next to us said it was the best she'd ever had. Another lady said it's the best restaurant they've eaten at during their holiday including some that cost nearly double the price.
With the bill we each got a glass of some sort of creamy alcoholic drink. You expect a really strong alcoholic taste but I felt like that never happened. You can taste it but the creamy part of it was lovely and made for an...
Read moreBooked based on Trip Advisor and Google reviews, but i would be lying if i said i wasnt a bit under-wealmed. It was average, nothing to write home about. We had a couple of tapas dishes and a main each, followed by dessert. There was nothing wrong with the food per se, it just did not live up to the outstanding reviews. We have had much better, for cheaper (not that price was the issue). For dessert I had the tiramisu, which was more like a mousse without much coffee (or alcohol), I left half of it. My partner had creme brulee which was all cold (including the top), it wasnt the right consistency and it had a shop-bought wafer in the top which 'was the best bit' (his words, not mine). The waitress was nice-ish, wasnt the most attentive or friendly though. Told us initially that we were ordering too much food, which we were grateful for (although she then allowed other tables to order way more dishes than us). Once our food came, we really didnt know what the fuss was about as there was enough, but not a huge amount - I think we were grateful for her looking out for us, but ultimately if we want to order something then we just want to order it, no questions asked. And we felt as though we didnt really have this choice. Other than that odd little scenario, all was ok with the service. I guess if we were to be picky, we were a little forgotten about towards the end of our meal when more customers arrived (including a table of around 10). €70ish for 3 courses and wine though, so no complaint on the price. We just wish it would've had that little something which the...
Read moreI have been to this place several times in the past and I think that it has changed hands since then. The food, while OK, is not what it was in my opinion. However, I have to give it one star for service because of a staff member. Having a written confirmed reservation for New Years’ Eve 3 weeks in advance, upon arrival a waitress told us automatically that “the reservation is cancelled, somebody called to cancel it”, and when replying that that was not true, she got really defensive and unpolite: “Are you calling me a lier? Are you insulting me??” She asked then to see my e-mail confirmation and even my ID!! I doubt that has been asked from any guest! Then I saw a table WITH MY NAME ON IT so I asked her why was she pretending that my reservation had been cancelled. Not only did she not apologize, but she also said “I’m not going to serve you tonight”. I asked then to speak to the manager, who did apologize but was not able to provide clear explanations about the incident… The manager himself took care of our order professionally. But it is not nice to greet like that returning guests who trust you enough to book dinner with you 3 weeks in advance. The manager told us that the waitress was stressed: well, we all work and we all get stressed when there’s too much work, but I think that this waitress is not fit for a job in the hospitality sector. NYE dinner had also a...
