RESTAURANTE LA TABERNA DE MARÍA SALINAS — Restaurant in Mogán

Just came back after nice family meal ( two kids and my wife and I ). Just walked by and the gentlemen invited us inside, very welcome approach, professional and positive service. The food was ABSOLUTELY PERFECT and cooked amazingly! We had marinated olives stuffed with anchovies, prawns in olive oil, scallops, chicken nuggets and lovely platter of iberico ham thinly sliced.But the best part was my wife's fillet steak and my huge chunk of beef matured for 40 days, specially cut to my requirements and both cooked to perfection! My wife ordered a glass of wine which she didn't like so she had a different kind of wine, served without having to pay for the first one. Great place ,nothing was to much, even our 5 and 6 year olds playing a little to loud.

Highly recommend this place don't take notice of low reviews below as the food there is always served with great care according to Spanish Canarian traditions for example with fish cooked, medium not well done!!!

Although Google maps reports that it is closed, the restaurant was actually open. The food arrived in a reasonable timing, and was very good, but the service is the worst I've ever experienced. Just one waiter was able to speak some words in English. All the others only Spanish We arrived, waiter immediately provided us with menus, water and wine, and then they completely forget us for almost 30 minutes. I then asked the waitress that we were ready for the order and she replied very rudely that we had to wait, inexplicably serving others that arrived after us. Nonetheless, another waiter arrived and took our order, looking to other waiters and treating us impolitely. Furthermore, this is the first time in my life (and I've have been all around Europe) I see that bread must be paid. It's really a pity that good chefs are obstructed by unqualified service and overall...

It went from bad to worse....red wine was freezing cold, and voices were raised as we'd ask for it to be warm. The bottle was opened and poured, before we had a chance to say something. However, they did change it for a warm one, which was delicious. Starter we're all ok. Mains - duck Very very over cooked and extremely Crispy to the point of it not being very edible. Said something and he gabbled in Spanish and wasn't understanding at all. We did ask for discount, but that was impossible. €24.90 was the full price, but left almost 2 1/3rds His comment was that he had a family at home which would have caused a problem if we didn't pay in full..
