Juana Y Juan — Restaurant in Palma

Alone in a city where I don’t speak the language after my friends flight was delayed, I stopped in to use the restroom and grab a drink but ended up staying too many great hours here. The servers spoke English incredibly well and were even happy to translate for me with the bartender when I got in a wonderful conversation with her.☺️

After checking out and saying goodbye I decided that I had to bring my friend right back here for dinner and was greeted again with smiles from the welcoming staff. They couldn’t have been more friendly and happy to help in whatever way. We didn’t know what to order but asked for the server’s recommendation. He suggested to let him ask the chef what would be the most fresh that day and we each had one of the chefs top two choices. The dishes were beautiful and delicious, and my only regret when visiting is the fact that I ate my dinner too quickly before realizing I hadn’t taken a photo. 🥘🤳🤦‍♂️

After my friend secretly informed them later in the night that the next day was my birthday, the servers, bartender, and owner (the gentleman in the photo) surprised me with a piece of delicious cake and candle while singing happy birthday in Spanish.🎂

To say Juana Y Juan is hospitable would be an understatement. They created an unforgettable experience for both of us to the point that we are even thinking about going back tonight! ❤️

WARNING! Do not eat here!!! Especially if you’re a tourist!!!! DO NOT.

So this was a terrible experience. We had a wonderful day in Palma and was on our way back to the hotel when a guy in a shirt with two menus asked us to eat at his restaurant.

First of all they asked if we wanted bread to our meal, we said yes sure and got charged for it. After this when we ordered two beers, we’ve got 1 liter each for €12. Then they served our drinks to the wrong table. Then the food was awful, the Asian food from the menu didn’t taste a bit. The chicken Milanese was so burnt that we couldn’t cut it with a steak knife. Terrible. When we had started eating the waiter came again trying to serve us things that we didn’t order. The waiter tripped over us/our table two times.

When we spoke to the guy speaking with us on the street about the food and beer he said “uh” and walked right past us, grabbing a fork and tried to cut through the chicken without success. Then he took the plates and glasses without saying a word. When we got the bill the chicken Milanese cost €3 more than on the menu, if this was an ordinary night I wouldn’t had care. But it was to much, of course they charges us full for the worst chicken in whole of Palma, for the most tasteless Asian course and for the biggest tourist scam on whole of Mallorca.

When I tried to speak to the guy talking with tourist in the streets acting like some kind of a manager...

Was guided in as walking past, menu seemed decent so sat down. We ordered the burger, 2 pizzas and 2 chicken dishes. Burger was ok but quality of meat did not match the price point. Pizzas could easily have been supermarket frozen pizzas and one of the chicken dishes arrived with a massively undercooked egg on top and the other was beef! When we complained about the raw egg wait staff were very rude and rolled eyes at us behind our back. Food was brought back out and the egg has just been dumped on the top, no presentation whatsoever. We did not say anything about the mistaken beef dish until the end when the waiter did not even apologise and was very rude about it. Meal came out to €120 and staff were unwilling to do anything about the cost due to the service and food issues. Would not recommend to my worst enemy. The toilets were barely working and should be condemned. The top of the tank for the toilet was gone meaning it couldn’t be flushed, the urinal had a bag over it and there was a sign saying all toilet paper was to be put in the bin which clearly had not been emptied in a while as the smell was enough to make my eyes water.
