Oh Udon! I know noodles, having lived and worked in the Far East, and whilst this place may be a novelty here in Spain, great food and value it is not. The taste of the base stock is mediocre, the range of menu items is rather same-same, the ramen is dire, service is slow and the portion sizes are even less impressive. If you're hungry then you'll be disappointed. If you seek "noodle tapas at a price" then fine. Its trendy, yes, and attracts a young crowd that might well be impressed with eating japanese style noodle soups with (rough) chopsticks, whilst sitting on cheap hard plastic seats. Great: a fun novelty place, but in terms of value for money? No way.
Noodles are cheap, and so are the few basic ingredients and boiled veggies that are thrown in with the chicken stock for good measure - BUT Udon are overpricing their stuff. It is not fillet mignon or lobster thermidor. Get real: you're selling soggy pasta and tiny dumplings at gourmet prices. Please don't.
Oh, and our waiter was unhelpfully indifferent, slow and disinterested in the customer. Disappointing, and I write after two visits now, in case my first impression was wrong. But no. And I speak as someone who knows a reasonable amount about oriental food, has travelled widely, but was born, bred and lives in Mallorca. Come on Udon, you can do far better than this. Thai, fusion, Indian and Chinese restaurants can generate decent portions of good quality hot fast food at reasonable prices, and so should you! Currently, in my humble opinion, you are not doing so, and until I hear otherwise, I won't be back and I won't be recommending you. You can, and should, try much harder, and I hope you do. Great...
Read moreBeen here for quick lunch with my family. Staff attitude was ok just not attentive enough to offer us baby chair, had to ask for it. Restaurant ambience was ok for indoor area just a bit cramp. Outdoor was really hot but i guess it would be nice for dinner. The food not that good but still edible(since we were really hungry). Ordered oyakodon, really different from the real oyakodon i know. It just rice with dry fried chicken fillet, the egg looks like steam scrambled egg and the sauce awful, nowhere near the real oyakodon. Its more like tonkatsu sauce mix with Worcestershire sauce. And the Japanese curry more like sautéed beef and veggies with a table of spoon Japanese curry sauce. The shrimp gyoza was good. Chicken fingers was a bit dry. Would i recommend it for dining... No. But maybe for a drink or two, outdoor late afternoon...
Read moreNot that good. Noodles to much cooked, just taste like "consistence". And paying 13 Eur per portion is a bit too much. We ordered one portion with plain chicken but got two times the same dish, just different noodles, with way to much sauce for my taste and not a lot vegetable, you need to search them, more noodles than anything else. No good service. We asked three different waiters to get the bill. It's just a typical fast food chain, nothing i would recommed to go there. It was no experience it was eatable. The starters were fine therefore two stars (prawns...
