Cactus Brunch Cafe — Restaurant in Puerto de la Cruz

I've been here at least five times now—two of those solo to work on my laptop for a couple of hours—and I have genuinely enjoyed the food, coffee, and cozy ambiance. However, during my most recent visit, I had a couple of experiences that left me feeling a bit unwelcome.

First, I adjusted the blinds slightly because the sun was directly in my eyes, and the owner quickly told me not to touch them. When I mentioned the sunlight issue, the concern was brushed off rather abruptly.

Later on, after about 45 minutes, my laptop battery ran out. I asked if I could move to a table with an outlet, and the response I received was, “Okay, but you know I have brunches today,” before the owner turned away. While I understand the space can get busy, the tone felt unnecessarily dismissive.

I still enjoy this spot and would like to keep coming back. One consistent highlight has been the friendly and attentive service from the waitress, who had always made me feel welcomed. But I hope there’s room for a little more flexibility and warmth—especially toward regulars who support the business...

Avoid this place if you value your time, cleanliness, and dignity. From the moment I sat down, it was chaos. I waited for over 45 minutes for a simple coffee, practically begging the staff to bring it. Meanwhile, the table I was seated at was still dirty, covered with the leftovers of cakes from the previous guests. Just as I thought things couldn’t get worse, someone from the staff removed me from my table because it was apparently “reserved”—a fact they failed to mention when I first sat down. The table they moved me to was just as dirty, as it had also been used by other guests. After all that, my coffee finally arrived—but by then, I had to drink it surrounded by the leftovers of cakes that had been sitting on the table the entire time.

I had initially planned to order food and even return later with a larger group, as our hotel is nearby, but after such blatant disrespect and disregard, that will never happen.

I truly enjoyed my visit to this Cactus cafe. The ambiance was calm and relaxing, perfect for both solo and social gatherings. The service was professional and prompt, with a friendly and helpful staff. The menu offered a wide variety of drinks to suit all tastes.
