Il Ponte — Restaurant in Puerto de la Cruz

We visited this restaurant at least 6 times over 6 weeks, and every single time the food was amazing. We have had pizza, pasta, seafood, salad, red wine - and all were perfect. I should add that generally we have high expectations for restaurant quality, and we are not easily impressed. Our favourite dish was probably the new "special" pizza ( "Pizza Veronica") which is definitely the best pizza we have ever had anywhere, including Italy. Once you have had this, it will be difficult to choose anything else the next time you visit. Our only regret is that we did not eat here twice per week rather than once. The menu is extensive and the range of food rivals much larger restaurants - but unlike many of the big boys, the standard is consistently very high, prices are very reasonable, portions are large, the chef is absolutely exceptional, and the service is second to none. It's a family-run business and everyone is playing their part and doing a fantastic job. We stumbled upon Il Ponte while exploring Tenerife and it turned out to be one of the best meals of our trip. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with a lovely blend of authentic Italian charm and relaxed island vibes.

I had the lasagne, and it was absolutely perfect — rich, hearty, and full of flavour, easily one of the best I’ve ever had. I finished with the tiramisu, which was light, creamy, and the ideal end to the meal.

What really stood out was the service. The staff were attentive, friendly, and genuinely passionate about the food they were serving. They took the time to explain the specials and make recommendations, which really added a personal touch.

Prices were very reasonable for the quality, and it’s clear this place focuses on delivering great value rather than just catering to tourists.

A family run business, with all the warmth and heart you would expect of the same, but also able to offer a comprehensive menu of classic and special Italian dishes (with an emphasis on the Roma cuisine given the family’s background).

The wine selection was also excellent, but perhaps the most impressive thing for this otherwise inconspicuous restaurant hidden away in the town, was it’s ability to cater for many dietary requirements including gluten free and lactose free options. I suffer from both, but my experience was elevated rather than limited with the impressive range of options they were able to offer.
