Our best food experience in Puerto de la Cruz!
We arrived for dinner just before 9 pm. They managed to accommodate the four of us outside, where the atmosphere is absolutely lovely (but the dining room looks very nice and cosy as well). Very friendly and polite service from both our waiters and the chef. Waiting time between services was a bit long, but it felt right considering the quality of what we ended up having!
For starters, we shared bread and aioli, salmorejo, and mussels a la plancha - all beautifully plated and very tasty. Everything had its own "kick" which made it special. We then had a Fideua for 2, seafood huevos rotos and bacalao confitado served with a very welcome ratatouille (veggies can be hard to come by in most restaurants here, let alone good ones - and these were excellent). We paired it all with a bottle of the red house wine, which was more than decent (and 2 alcohol free beers). We were full, but... We had to try the desserts and shared 2 amazing half baked chocolate cakes, served with a great ice cream. No regrets.
With all this, we ended up paying 35€ each. For that experience, I would have expected to pay much, much more. It is a bit more expensive than most places here, but it ranks soooo much higher as a whole!
Thank you to the whole team at Xauen for making our last dinner in Puerto de la Cruz a...
Read moreI don't normally post reviews, but this one exceeded my expectations even though my partner has a hunch for finding the best places, the food was just incredibly tasty and took my breath away, to eat we ordered three plates to share, the pill pill kind prawns, the oil, garlic and sauce to dip with the bread was a classic, considering we usually have garlic prawns, this was a quite different and a must. We also had the grilled aubergine with creamy mushrooms sauce, the taste of the coal/grilled aubergine in combination with the sauce was just out of this world, it left me wanting more, lastly to accompany the two dishes we had to share we had the Salmorejo which was a chilled, soft smooth creamy texture with hard boiled egg and jamón serrano on top. Honestly I had to thank the chef, the boss and the waiter for the recommendation. We also ordered the dessert of the day which was only one option left which was passion fruit mouse. Unlike most desserts which I don't really go for because I'm to a sweet tooth, this was soft and smooth with barely any sugar yet left you wanting more, can't forget the quality of the expresso. Honestly the best restaurant we stumbled upon in...
Read moreThis is a relatively new Restaurant. The young owner Pablo has done a fantastic job getting everything so right. The tables are perfectly spaced and have the most comfortable chairs I have experienced for years. The decor and art work is simple but imaginative, especially the blank frame with the dangling string. The kitchen is on open view to the inside tables, this always fills me with confidence that the kitchen is professionally run and you can see how well dressed the chefs are dressed. The house red at e15 a bottle was the best we have experienced in 2 weeks in Tenerife. The young server was extremely pleasant and very well trained by Pablo who himself was very professional yet still very friendly. The food was excellent and very fairly priced. You cannot fail to feel it has all been prepared with love. I cannot remember ever visiting a near new establishment and see everything working so well to create a perfect evening of dinning. I have a policy of only reviewing very good or very poor...
