Unfortunately, the manager at this restaurant attempted to scam us. Check your receipts and count your drinks!
We stopped in during a surprise rainstorm and ordered two small beers. After finishing these, we decided on a couple of coffees - one Irish. A relatively short time later, asked for the bill and attempted to leave. However, there was a mass of confusion between waiters and management. The Manager came over and asked “did you have beer?” I presumed he was confused by the fact we now only had coffee mugs, and confirmed, yes, we had had two small beers.
The waiter then came over with three separate receipts, and told us - without showing us - that there were two beers and the coffee, and the total was €16. This seemed a bit steep, so we asked to see the receipts… we’d been charged twice for the two beers, and once for the coffees.
The manager attempted to claim that this was a simple mistake, caused by the huge influx of customers from the rain. This was not believable, since firstly he’d asked me a couple of times to confirm the beers… and secondly, he sat a total of 4 tables in the time we were there.
We did get the extra €5 refunded, but it was harder than it should have been.
It’s a shame, because we’d planned on returning for lunch the next day (they had a video of a paella that looked amazing), but not after...
Read moreWe were really looking forward to dining at this restaurant! The staff was friendly, and besides us, there were only two other guests in the restaurant. We ordered a mixed seafood grill platter for two, and my daughter ordered a filet mignon. We waited more than half an hour for the food, and what we received was terrible. The filet was skewered, cooked dry, and served that way. The grill platter was not fresh—the fish was unscaled, and its slimy eye had burst, covering everything. It was tasteless and mushy! I really do not recommend this place!
My partner also ordered a beer, which he never received, yet it was on the bill! (We pointed this out, and the waiter kindly refunded it.) If you’re looking for a good meal, avoid this place...
Read moreIt's so rare I visit a restaurant twice while on vacation, but it happened with Escaleritas. We had the best sangria here, both de vino tinto and de cava, rich with fruit and aromatic in good quality wine. The food is properly prepared, with super fresh fish and good raw ingredients: we tasted the gazpacho, the mixed grilled fish, sardines, seafood risotto and seafood spaghetti, and we still can't decide our favourite. But it's the professional, passionate and personable service of Alessandro and his staff that makes the dinner the most pleasant experience. If this isn't enough, the view on the beach and the lighthouse and the affordable prices make Escaleritas 100%...
