Bar El Nautico Terrace — Restaurant in San Miguel de Abona

I would have never guessed that I would be obliged to write a review about the meal I got in this restaurant. We were here a couple days before and last year as well. The restaurant gave me good memories up to this point.

I ordered a classic burger.

First I have to mention that the staff and the service has been incredibly good except that the waitress didn’t catch what I wanted to tell her about the hamburger bread that may have been a regular bread. It was like they would have bought it in the local supermarket after running out of the hamburger bread. I don’t remember getting something like that last year as we were here first time. Last year the bread looked and tasted like a hamburger bread but now ... I made a remark about it, but the waitress’s English wasn’t good enough to understand it. No compensation, nothing. The service stuff need practicing English and hiring further employees so they could serve the meal more quickly

In addition, I wasn’t asked how I wanted to have the meat (angus) The meat was served rare. Other than that I was pleased with the meal.

Death of and old friend. The cafe is in wonderful location, not much better local to myself. Although it's always played homage to all tastes and budgets, after 15 months away it's was one of first friendly places to visit I've never expected the very best Tenerife has to offer, it was always a great place if your just off the late plane in or a last stop out before the airport. I came back to find it's sold out to a total English diet, and the very worst of it It only offers the convenience food, that you would not buy in the UK. Today,.. how could a Cannarian cafe make a breakfast of Ham and Cheese, the two things that are it's bread and butter, taste anything but perfect. Think the budget isle and almost give away section of Lidl or Aldi, half the quality and charge 18Euro for the slap in the face. Times have been hard for us all, we have all cut corners. I’ve been going regularly to El Nautico bar for more than 15 years on annual visits to the area and it was always a firm favourite, with great views, great service, and was one of the few places in the area where you could get good Spanish tapas instead of the usual English fried food that dominates most menus. But something has changed in the last year, and the menus and food quality has really dropped from my last visit a year ago. The menus are very English and none of the tapas was enjoyable, and the tapas is no very limited. Such a disappointment after many years of great food. A lot of other places in the area have closed in the last year, including the high end place on the Marina, and I wonder if El Nautico are now trying to compete hard on prices and an English menu to get the dominant English holidaymaker crowd in.
