We stumbled upon here on a Friday night in October, only because we had just arrived in San Sebastian and the place is 2 minutes from our accommodation.
We were lucky to get a table inside as it was extremely busy, and we got there at about 1915, and was shown the mini blackboard on the table which we understood meant "get out by 2030 as we have set cover times".
The service was.... interesting. I would never expect US style over the top service but we were laughing to ourselves that our first experience in San Sebastian was "grumpy older man waitor." I get it, they're the world over. Totally over dealing with tourists. Very basic and abrupt 😂.
The food was really nice, though, and even though we were on a time limit, we didn't feel rushed.
The beef ribs especially were nice - I know them as Korean BBQ cut, where they're cut across the bone thinly then grilled.
The vegetable platter was also nice - course it was, it was swimming in salt and oil which was indulgent but oh so nice.
I really enjoyed the food but I don't think it stands out from anything else in...

That said, the service here, at least with our waitress, was the worst I have experienced in a long time across many cities and countries. That’s especially unfortunate in a city renowned for its excellent restaurant scene. Our waitress was rude and unhelpful, and never cleaned our table throughout the dinner, which covered numerous rounds of pintxos and drinks. See photos! Further, her behavior was dismissive and rude every time we ordered. The place isn’t cheap, and with better service this would be fair. But when going to a good restaurant you expect at least a basic level of respect. It should also be noted that this restaurant prioritizes turning over tables quickly - which is fine, but the style of dining would ideally demand a slow and unrushed experience. Something to be aware of. Overall, great food, truly and remarkably bad...
Read moreLoved the food ! We were deciding where to eat for our last night and came across this restaurant. We were happy with the choice as on the same street you can do Italian, American, Mexican, etc. We wanted to have something authentic for our last night in Donostia. We were seated very quickly without a problem even if the place was packed!
We went with seafood for our last night , using the half portion shared plated. We had the salmon, octopus, toasted bread with tomato and finally a salad plate with anchovies, tuna, onion and peppers.
Overall it was an amazing fish with a ton of flavors, combining all the oil and taste with bread bits made it that much better! I highly recommend trying their octopus as it was tossed lightly and super fresh. The peppers also helped make it feel light and...
