A Curtidoría — Restaurant in Santiago de Compostela

We had an absolutely delicious meal at A Curtidoria yesterday - the nicest we've had in Santiago de Compastela by far. And the setting was beautiful. It was disappointing that, albeit with a 3pm lunch booking, we were the only people in the room after about 15 minutes. We believe that people are discouraged from booking due to the fact that the menu is in Spanish only so the offering is not readily on display. And it was very dispiriting/irritating to have to sit there with our phones, tapping everything on the menu into Google Translate. I have given service just 4 stars as it was only after the waitress had witnessed us doing this right through to the end of the menu that she came and asked if we had any questions. We were there on a quiet night in August The dining room is very well apportionmed and beautifully airy. The staff were friendly and happy to suggest food and wine combinations. The food was excellent ... really tasty .. we went for the cod empanadas and then the seafood arroz which was truly delicious. Our local wine suggestion paired beautifully. I was just making a reservation and was surprised at the current star rating. We went here last year while on the Camino and it was one of our very favorite dinners. The space is beautiful, the service was the perfect mix of fancy without feeling stuffy, and the food was glorious from the bread roll to dessert.
