A recent visit to this restaurant left us with mixed feelings. The establishment offers a good variety of dishes, and we decided to try two: the pulpo a feira and the Arroz a banda "Luras e Langostinos."
The pulpo a feira was decent, although the consistency of the octopus pieces varied, with some needing more cooking time. This could be a personal preference, but it did affect the overall experience.
The main issue arose with the Arroz a banda "Luras e Langostinos." Despite the name, the dish contained no langostinos. When we brought this to the staff's attention, the chef's response was unexpectedly dismissive. He mentioned that we should be grateful for being served at 4 PM and did not address our concern about the missing langostinos.
It turned out they had run out of langostinos and substituted extra shrimp without informing us. We suggested that informing customers beforehand would have allowed us to choose another dish. The chef advised that we should instruct the server not to make substitutions next time, which we found to be an unhelpful response.
Although the chef instructed the server to cancel the dish from our bill, the cashier refused to do so. We paid and left, feeling disappointed.
In summary, while the menu offers variety, the inconsistent food quality and lack of communication from the staff left much...
Read more"Delicious patatas gajo - potato wedges, so crunchy! Menu is slightly odd in that there are no descriptions of the food - just the name of it. Lots of different styles of food, all served in the same seating area, great way of tasting lots of different cuisines."
I went here the first night I was here, and loved the food, went somewhere else, had a disappointing experience, so came back here for the third night.
It was terrible.
The wait staff were very unattentive - the first night we put that down to us being foreign, and not knowing what was going on, but this time we knew how it worked, and they were still uninterested and slow.
The food was awful. I ordered the prawns "gambas ao allo" and they turned up in a metal tin, stinking of fish, and tasting rubbery. The "sauce" was the water they were boiled in, and there were about four shreds of garlic in there. All for €13,90
My partner ordered the Poke Atun, and it was like someone had explained the concept of Poke, but not well. So he had rice, flavourless lumps of tuna, and some cucumber slices, tomato, and grated carrot.
TLDR; Order the patatas...
Read more4 years ago I gave it 5 stars, this time I´m going down to two. I left my previous review below. The food was good as always, but the service was terrible. I get it can get busy, but when you call them because they forgot something and you being ignored, it´s infuriating. I´ve been given an excuse that´s their first day, which is also OK if you train them. However, withing the same lunch it happened again with different person, who brought us food and left it on the other side, which was quite hard to reach. When we asked if he could give it to us, he was extremely unfriendly. I can´t say all were like that, but majority wouldn´t pass. So if the manager was the bearded one who flirted with every young girl coming in, maybe you should pay attention to your staff!!!
My review from 4 years ago: It's a great place to hang around with your friends, especially when it rains - and it rains a lot in Santiago. There are different counters you can order food and drinks from, the ice-cream is to die for, and on Fridays and Mondays there...
