In a city with so many Alleyways, lanes, streets and squares, you wouldn’t expect that Gastronomic GEM, you were dreaming of, to be right in front of you as you walk out of your Hotel. But yet that is exactly what La Cayetana turned out to be!!! Set back down a street from the very centre of Seville’s main action. This wonderful establishment is warm and inviting, with comfort and an involvement in all around you, provided in its layout. The staff are very friendly and experienced, they are a working team that provides an opportunity for a great night in their company. I turned up without a reservation (Make one, I got lucky).they found me a seat up by the bar. I usually might feel a bit self conscious, being a solo diner, at the bar? But when the real star of the show appeared, My ID & EGO just Dissolved into the Food and Wine……. I had an Anchovy starter… It was incredible, and gone way too fast!!! Like a little tremor just hit ??… Everyone seemed to be friends inside, laughing, talking, eating, drinking. For my second, I had pork cheek and apple Cannelloni, with an amazing fruity white wine. There was what seemed a custard foam with it, and it blew my mind away!!!…. The food here is breathtaking, the Staff incredible, and a place memories are made...
Read moreAfter being very impressed by various other restaurants around Seville my partner and I both decided to have our last meal out at La Cayetana.
We were talked through the menu and wine list (which was fantastic and also contained a range of Sherries) by the knowledgeable and very hospitable staff who helped us decide on what to get, explained every dish comprehensively and were very attentive.
There were alot of tempting options but in the end we had, the seasonal mushroom special, almond soup with tuna tartar, grilled octopus, the Iberian secreto and the basque cheesecake.
To pick a highlight feels wrong as everything was of a beautiful quality the dishes were pretty mind blowing to be honest. I’ve had octopus from many places in Spain including Galicia, where it’s supposedly the best, although I have to say at La Cayetana every dish was elevated to a point I did not expect. Absolutely delicious, absolutely worth a visit, absolutely the best place we went to eat during our stay and absolutely no doubt we will be returning. Thanks to all the staff who made our last night in Seville so special....
Read moreWe found this place by chance and what a great evening. As other reviews state, this is a traditional Andalucian Restaurant. We ate prawns in the most delicious garlic sauce with a strong vein of chilli heat, so good I was drinking the bowl dry with a spoon and mopping up the dregs with the wonderful artisanal bread. We ate the scallops, which whilst small by Scottish standards, were beautifully cooked and tasted of the sea. Main course consisted of the Escabeche which was a cold tuna stew, very well balanced and skilfully prepared. Dishes were served with the patrons recommended wines. The best was yet to come. Brioche and ice cream pudding, a take on bread and butter pudding but the crowning glory was the cheesecake, the best and lightest I have ever tasted.
The staff were efficient and our patron was extremely supportive and indulgent, willing to offer good advice on the dishes served and accompanying wines. Only a small establishment but with a great vibe and...
