We chose to eat at La Subasta because of its proximity to the Cathedral and the fact that they were serving paella today. Our tour ended at 4:30 so we made a reservation for a late lunch. I am mad at myself because I should have known better. Too touristy and the minute the bread came out and looked like it had been on a few tables before ours was the moment to get the heck out of there. We ordered a 13€ salad and figured we would share it. Most salads in Spain are huge and more than enough for two. And then we ordered paella. Usually we order paella and it must be ordered for a minimum of two people. The waiter brought the salad, in a very tiny bowl, drowning in dressing and pretty sad looking. And then he served me the plate of seafood paella. I said we both wanted the paella so he said he would bring another. The paella was cold, soupy and the rice was hard. I’ve never seen anything like it. Mercadona’s is better. I was so hungry so I tried to eat some but just couldn’t. The waiter passed by and i cancelled the second order. I spoke Spanish to the waiter, not the best Spanish, but I’ve lived here 2 years and I can get by pretty well. The next thing I see is the guy next to me being served a very well plated and great looking dish of paella. I asked the waiter, why doesn’t mine look like his and he told me it’s exactly the same. I just laughed. We’ve had very few bad meals here and this will forever claim the award for the worst ever.

Read moreWorst paella ever ! They should be embarrassed to even present this dish as a seafood paella !!! It was horrible!!!! I’m Spaniard and I wanted to visit with my family and I thought I would order paella because we are in Sevilla !!! They don’t even use bomba rice and the seafood paella had 2 little clams and hardly any seafood !!! It was just horrible !!! It tasted awful ! Have they heard of saffron !???? No pierdan su dinero en este restaurante porque la comida no sirve ) The young waitress was miserable and rude !!! We asked for different plates for the paella because we had ordered seafood salad and potato salad which weren’t terrible even though the seafood salad just had approximately 6 shrimp and it was all peppers literally !!!! The waitress came over and rudely placed the 2x2 plates on the table !!! They expected us to eat the paella on 2x2 plates with vinegar and Mayo on them from the salad’s ! Spaniard people are very warm and accommodating and this was not the case here !!! The older waitress was nice but that’s where it ends ! Horrible Paella ! Go to “Baco” for...
Read moreWorst place ever!! Our waiter Francisco was possibly the rudest waiter we have ever encountered. He was sullen and rude and did his best to ignore us. We asked for French fries but got stale ready salted crisps. We ordered some tapas dishes which were of very poor quality but our surly waiter did not give us any plates or cutlery to eat them with. When we asked for some he told us rudely to wait. He bought the table next to us breads and plates and cutlery even though we had ordered before them. He finally gave us our cutlety and plates and WOW some bread. Was he warming to us? No, we asked for the bill and he did everything he cud before giving us our change like arranging serviettes and wiping tables. He finally bought our change (we sure as hell were not going to give him a tip) Honestly Manuel from Faulty Towers gets an A star compared to this guy. Just a few yards down the road is a wonderful pizzeria that also do loads of other dishes and it's service with a smile. Don't go to La Subasta. Ever!!! If we cud give no...
