Mamarracha Tapas Bar | Sevilla — Restaurant in Seville

Ok, I just need a second to rave about this restaurant. I came with three picky picky people (2 Americans and an Italian) and every single person was absolutely floored by this restaurant. The servers were attentive without intruding. The food—to die for. We had octopus tacos, sea bass ceviche, paparrucha (I might have gotten this name wrong, but it was potatoes with cheese and bacon), tratadito de Thai (cured salon with seaweed), smoked provolone chimichurri, pork ribs, Iberian ham croquettas, chocolate cake, and apple tatin. To drink we had vermouth, sangria, and a white wine. Every single thing we ordered, everyone agreed it was the best thing they’ve eaten in their lives. I can’t count how many times my parents said “wow, this is the best restaurant we’ve ever been to.” These are people whose hobby is finding things they don’t like about places. The lighting was warm and flattering. The ambiance was beautiful, a giant plant wall with actual real plants, irrigated from behind. For seats you can choose tables with regular chairs, or tables with two chairs and a booth made of a soft, suede-like material. I’m usually a tinto de verano girl but my parents got the sangria and it came with candied oranges and a cinnamon stick. Gorgeous and delicious. We never had to wave a server over—it was like they were psychic. I can’t even recommend a dish because I truly think you can’t go wrong. If you have a picky eater maybe get the potatoes with melted cheese, green onions and bacon (paparruchas). We finished dinner with complimentary vials of sherry (cherry?) wine. Just a perfect end to a spectacular dinner. I am so so grateful to this place because literally everyone was so happy during and after dinner. Thank you and highly recommend. We ate in our holidays in this restaurant. We went there for dinner. Although it’s written that the restaurant opens at 20:30, the waitress told us that we would have to wait another 30 minutes because the kitchen wasn’t opened yet. The food was served in really small portions. I ordered a mamararcha burger and an paparacha stuff. They wrote that paparacha would be french fries but when I got it I realised that it was not at all French Fries but sliced potatoes with sour cream. The menu is a little bit irritating and the waiter on the picture has difficulties to understand my order because he can’t speak English fluently. The waiter forgot to give me the sauce for the potatoes wedges. The burger was literally cold and there wasn’t a sauce in the burger. On the card there was written: melting cheese, bbq sauce,... Actually neither of these ingredients! I just got a burger made with two little pads of bread and a raw beef-pork piece. The wedges were fried several times and had a strong taste after oil. They were also dark and more crunchy than usual. I am disappointed because of the quality lacking service and the false description of the food on the card. However the food was prepared quickly and came after some minutes. But this doesn’t change my opinion. Close to the cathedral and reasonable in price, about 7 euros a plate. 4 plates overfilled two guys.

I would say it's Cal-modern Spanish. The summer wine was great and refreshing. They use large ice cubes!

We ordered the beetroot salad, cod, chicken, and sweet potato.

Everything except the chicken was good. The cod could use less sauce but very good flavor from the cod itself after I scraped off the sauce. With less sauce the cod could more clearly shine through. Sweet potato was not viney. Extra care should be taken to not present charred sweet potato. Had to scrap some burned bits off.

The chicken was dry. Most of the meat we've had in Spain has been dry. Either I'm too good at cooking meat at home or it's normal here. Brine your meats!

Edit: went back here again for lunch. Ordered sea bass, salad, baked eggs, anchovy, and pork tenderloin.

Pork was tender. Good quality sea bass. Get the salads and sweet potato. Skip the anchovy, chicken, and baked eggs.

My verdict after visiting Seville? this is the only place serving quality modern food at reasonable prices. Ask for less sauce (see above and other reviews). Should have just eaten here our entire stay. Super...
