We arrived at Marabunda around 8:45pm and were greeted by Felipe, our server for the evening. From the start, the experience was disappointing and frankly frustrating. When we asked for a table, Felipe told us the restaurant was fully booked and that the only option was one table available for just 30 minutes.

Something felt off, so we immediately checked Marabunda’s website. To our surprise, there were plenty of reservations available starting at 9:15pm and continuing in 15-minute intervals throughout the evening. We booked one instantly and went back to Felipe, only for him to tell us we still had to wait outside for 30 minutes until our “reservation time.” This was confusing and insulting—especially since he had just told us there was a table open for 30 minutes.

What’s worse is that Felipe continued this behavior with other guests. We watched at least five other groups turned away with the same excuse—that the restaurant was fully booked—while in reality, reservations were clearly wide open online. To me, it felt like Felipe simply didn’t want to work harder, which raises a serious question: why would a business owner allow an employee to turn paying customers away and damage the restaurant’s reputation like this?

The issues didn’t stop there: • We ordered asparagus, but when the kitchen ran out, they quietly substituted broccoli as if customers wouldn’t notice. • Bread was brought automatically to the table without asking, and then charged per person—yet portions varied wildly. Our table of two was given just three small slices, while others around us received double the amount. • When my wine glass was refilled a third time, the bottle was nearly empty. Instead of opening a new one or at least acknowledging the short pour, the waiter simply served me half a glass and disappeared. • Communication was difficult. Both Felipe and David spoke very limited English, which made the experience especially frustrating for tourists trying to enjoy Seville’s dining scene.

The recurring themes throughout the evening were inconsistency, dishonesty, and a lack of professionalism. A restaurant like Marabunda, with such potential to appeal to both locals and visitors, deserves staff who care about service and customer experience. Unfortunately, Felipe’s actions—and the lack of oversight—send the message that guests are not valued.

I sincerely hope the owner reconsiders the kind of staff representing this restaurant. Marabunda could thrive with professional, competent servers who show integrity, transparency, and genuine hospitality. Until then, I cannot recommend it to anyone other than locals who already know...

We booked a table here on 24th May for 3pm and our booking was confirmed online. We turned up at 2.50pm and my wife (who is Sevillian) was told by the waiter that our table wasn’t ready. At 3.10pm after standing out in the sun (we were asked to wait on the pavement outside in direct sunlight in Seville) we asked the waiter again about our table. He ‘then’ said that there was no table. My wife explained politely that we’d booked and showed him the confirmation for the 3 of us. He said there was nothing he could do. We could wait and there might be a table at some point. He had no apology, he showed zero empathy, and behaved as if it was no interest to him what we did. Facing such disinterest, we unanimously decided to leave and headed to a Japanese restaurant in Dos de Mayo, where we waited for 10 mins inside the restaurant, while the waitress kept us informed until a table came free. Straightforward basic good service in stark contrast to Marabunda!!! I felt it was important to write this review to warn others that a reservation/booking at Marabunda means absolutely nothing. You turn up at...

A 5 stars to a 2 stars in 2 days. Our first visit was exceptional, it had a cool vibe we had a nice table for 2 by the window. The jalapeño margaritas are amazing as is the food. Really impressed so much so we booked again there and then for 2 days later. Fast forward 2 days we called ahead as we have to change the booking and we were in the area so visited in person. Changed the booking to 9pm. We arrive at 9pm only to find that they hadn’t changed the time, very annoying as it was the same guy we spoke to in person earlier that day, and he repeated the change back to us at that time. No apologies no duty of care just it is what it is, offered us a seat by the bar, we agreed however in less than 2mins of seating we are asked to move and bunch up as we in the way of the pass. So at this point I’m f’ed off, because the waiter f’ed us off, so we did exactly that f’ed off somewhere else. So in short you don’t know what your gonna get with this place 5 stars one, zero the next with crap...

The BEST restaurant my partner and I had on our 10 day trip to Spain! Marabunda is a restaurant in Sevilla which puts a twist on traditional spanish food that blurs the line between casual and fine dining in a way that provides you with a delicious, artistic, and enjoyable experience. From the moment you walk inside this unassuming local restaurant located a short walk the tourist center, you are welcomed by a modern restaurant and a great song selection. Once seated you hold a menu with many familiar choices, of which you notice something different. The food which you ordered thinking that it would be just another delicious Spanish dish arrives and makes you stop and think for a moment, wondering if it was possible to blend food and art. All of the items we got were absolutely delicious and plated beautifully. My personal favorite was the special for the day: tuna tartar and well as the pork. We cannot recommend this place enough! From food, to service, to experience, this is a must eat when in Sevilla!
