We have been traveling through Spain and something I've been telling friends is that Spain has mastered the art of the perfect bite, I have yet to have a single bad taste of food until I went to Pizzeria Orsini.
We ordered the Spinach salad because we like to cut a rich pizza meal with a healthy bite of vegetables but what we got was some pieces of spinach DROWNED in thick ranch, which was also topped with a shocking amount of hot bacon pieces, covered in pieces of bread bites. It was at that moment that I knew we were in for an experience to remember.
After we were able to salvage a handful of slightly moist spinach leaves from the pile of soggy bacon ranch bread, we were then introduced to the two pizzas we ordered:
The Funghi & Margarita
The Funghi a mushroom pizza as the name implied was advertised as a seasonal mushroom pie. What I got was white button mushrooms which one could find at any grocery store in a supermarket in the west.
The Margarita had chicken added as a request, which was topped with a ton of shredded dry chicken. It was impressive how they were able to get this to be so dry, surely they knew adding cooked shredded chicken to a pizza and then cooking it in a pizza oven would dehydrate the chicken to the point where it would be safe for space travel.
The real deal breaker for us was the pizza dough. It was a cracker. Not a pizza. Traveling through Spain we were lucky enough to have pizza at other establishments and it was something we will think of for years to come, the fluffy crust and amazing sauce this was not that. It was a pale imitation of a pizza to the point where we were convinced this was made by someone who tried cooking a pizza from a description of what a pizza is from a person who never had it before.
The only reason we are not giving this a one star is because the waitress was very pleasant but we could tell she understood the food was terrible. She didn't come by to ask how the food was or if we wanted anything else, which honestly..I get it. Saving grace was also that she was very quick to grab the check and in Spain you know that is not...
Read moreAmazing food with even better service! We arrived at 7pm as Google said that they open then, but they said that it only opens at 8pm. Despite this, the owner (or manager) was extremely hospitable. He told us to come in relax and order drinks and recommended some Andalusian wine (Pedro Jimenez), he was very friendly and asked what we wanted so that when the kitchen opened they would have our order prepared as fast as possible. We got our food before the official opening time and it was delicious, my celiac partner loved her gluten and lactose free pizza and I enjoyed my spicy chorizo pizza. It was very good to see the owner/manager work along his friendly servers in taking orders, bring food and interact with customers. Furthermore, there was a huge gluten free menu with various types of dishes. Good location too....
Read moreOK so we are in Spain, but who doesn't like Italian food, right? So we decided to try it. I had a Diavolvo pizza with Chorizo and blue cheese. Excellent thin base Italian style. My partner had ravioli with cheese and pear. Unusual, but she loved it. We also had some garlic bread which was a little dry, but still tasty. We had a bottle of local wine at a very reasonable price. Finally we finished by sharing a very generous and delicious portion of Tiramisu. And the best cappuccino I've had in Seville. Although the place got very busy (there were crowds literally outside the door watching an Easter week procession), service was attentive and cheerful....
