Puerto de Cuba Café del Río — Restaurant in Seville

After a busy morning sight seeing, we ended up in Plaza de Espana where we chose to head to this restaurant. The walk through Park Maria Luisa was shady and took us 10-15 mins.

The restaurant is next to the river making for nice views and a break from the busy ring roads. There wasn't much else around but fortunately this was open and empty when we arrived at about 1pm.

We were 9 diners, 5 kids and 4 adults, and then menu was only doing large plates (not tapas sized portions which are sometimes available). The costs were reasonable at appx 15e for most dishes. The kids enjoyed ribs, chicken dumplings, schnitzel and chips with spicey sauce and there were a few good salads. The steak was amazing - at 35e it wasn't cheap but it was huge and slightly disconcerting on arrival as it was blue - but the waiter then arrived with a sizzle plate so that you could cook steak strips to your liking. It didn't mention this on the English website so a nice surprise. Plenty for a two people to share.

The downsides were the music - we asked for it to be turned right down as it was very loud, Flamenco (wailing, hectic - argh!) on arrival. They did turn it down but it was still grating music in an otherwise calm and relaxing location. Also, our waitress had a grumpy demeanor - maybe she didn't mean it - but you'd think smiling and asking friendly questions would be a basic part of the job! She wasn't just like it with the English tourists either.

Inside looked very empty but perhaps gets busier in the evenings. Outside was quiet on arrival but full of local diners by the time we left...

Bueno, tras estar en una boda en este sitio, quiero destacar la experiencia, ya que tenía muy buenas expectativas del sitio, pero finalmente me defraudó bastante. Decir que no es a la primera boda que voy ya que tengo una edad...

PROS: Sitio muy bonito junto al río La recepción en la terraza fue muy bonita y agradable Salón de arriba para barra libre estaba bien, con sus bebidas frías, sonido adecuado y variedad en las bebidas. El personal. Eran jóvenes, agradables y estaban atentos. -Cerveza fresquita

CONTRAS: Recepción, cortita con canapés poco apetecibles, de hecho pusieron unos conos de helado de paté, que tal como te lo echabas en la boca te lo tenias que sacar. Igual es una estrategia para que todo lo demás fuese estupendo... -En el salón de abajo donde fue la comida principal, en 2/3 del espacio de la sala había mal olor, como a desagüe o similar. Las sillas se movían más que el paso de la macarena, rezamos para no caer al suelo. No había espacio suficiente entre mesa y mesa, es decir si movias la silla para ponerte en pie, le dabas al de atrás. -Catering de lo peor que he visto, jamás me he ido con hambre de una boda, JAMÁS. Pues en la mesa no ponen entrantes, solo primero, segundo y postre y café. Si no te comes el primero, ni el segundo... te vas con hambre. De primero pusieron una ensalada, que pudiendo ser original o lo que quieran estaba no me gustó, y esto es subjetivo. Pero lo que no es subjetivo es que sea ensalada de bolsa que además estaba pasada, sí, con hojas oxidadas de llevar tiempo, INADMISIBLE. Supongo que a los novios en la prueba no le pondrían esta muestra, sino no la hubieran contratado seguro. De segundo una carne sin sabor, cruda e insípida. Por no decir la cantidad irrisoria que ponen tipo "cool", acompañadas de dos patatas, si 2. Y un refregon de mojo picón que no te da ni para mojar las DOS patatas que ponen. El postre cortito, nada de postre elaborado, coulant de chocolate de paquete del lidl o Aldi, que están genial para tu casa, no para una boda... Las bebidas (salvo la cerveza) CALIENTES, eso en Sevilla no es de recibo...Sí, le ponían hielo, pero o te la bebias caliente o aguada. Pero hay más, el café frío... Estas cosas son de primero de hostelería. Me da pena, sobre todo por los novios que piensan que todo ha salido como pensaban y no es así, después del dineral que cuestan las bodas, que solo por decir BODA sube el pan. Gracias a estos medios podemos expresarnos y compartir experiencias que ayudan a tod@s. Asi Justificar mi única estrella, y ayudar tanto a los gerentes de los negocios como a los futuros clientes que se decidan por este sitio. Un poquito de...

We had lunch with our 1.5 year old baby in this restaurant today 12/02/23 and we got a food poison from the salad with prawns that we ate there. Luckily our baby did not eat this salad as it had a lot of mayonnaise. Soon after the lunch at this restaurant me and my husband were sick several times in the middle of the street with baby crying in the stroller. We spent more than 60 euros for our lunch eating several dishes but it was obvious that the food poison was from the prawn salad. We are still unwell and had to rush to get our train back home in this condition with the baby. This restaurant should not be allowed to trade and poison people. I cannot even imagine what would happen if our 1.5 year old daughter had tried this...
