Located in the heart of Alameda, Al Aljibe boasts an inviting atmosphere with a stylish interior and a lovely terrace that makes it an ideal spot for both casual dining and special occasions. The ambiance is modern yet cozy, with a comfortable layout that allows for relaxed conversation and a pleasant dining experience.
The service was a standout — attentive, friendly, and efficient without being intrusive. Staff members made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived and maintained a good pace throughout the meal.
The menu features a selection of contemporary Andalusian dishes. Prices are not cheap, but they’re reasonable given the setting and presentation. We started with salmorejo, which was creamy and well-balanced, followed by croquetas that were crispy on the outside and satisfyingly soft inside. The carrillada (braised pork cheeks) was the highlight — tender, flavorful, and perfectly cooked.
The chicken fingers were a safe and well-executed option, likely to please less adventurous diners or children. Unfortunately, the ensaladilla left much to be desired. Though it was supposed to include salmon, neither the taste nor appearance suggested it was there. The dish came off as bland and underwhelming compared to the others.
Overall, Al Aljibe delivers a solid dining experience with quality service and a stylish setting. While most of the food was enjoyable, the ensaladilla felt like a miss. Still, it’s a great place to enjoy a meal in Alameda — especially on the terrace during...
Read moreAmazing food. Went here as we were staying on the same square and after 10 solid days of tapas wanted a change of food. This place is a mix of Spanish and other foods. Great vibe in the place, nice little vine covered courtyard which is a great respite from the heat. Foodwise, started with the Burrata salad with Quince jam, tomatoes and Balsamic. Absolutely delicious and a great combination with the sweet jam and creamy cheese. For mains we had a mixture of smaller plates. A risotto of Gorgonzola and Rocket which was nice and peppery. A story fry of chicken, vegetables and cashews which was delicious. And a pork loin with a spicy sauce which was very tender and tasty. Star of the meal for us though had to be the candied pork cheeks with crushed potatoes. This was absolutely delicious. Fork tender meat, soft potatoes and a sauce that is simply divine. The sauce alone with bread would be a delicious meal. This place was so good we went three times over our 4 days in Seville. Each time we had the same waitress as well who was super friendly and always smiling even when we couldn't quite understand each other due to ghe language barrier. Defitintely check out Al Ajibe...
Read moreIn previous years we have dined here in the evening and found the place, service and food most agreeable. On those events it has invariably been dark and soft lighting adding to the ambient nature of the events.
On this out of season occasion - early March - we tried lunch in stark daylight, and although the meal was good enough, an obvious turpitude in house maintenance has become evident. The place really looks 'well used' but it is popular and wear and tear is to be expected. Couldn't some of the undoubtedly handsome profit of the business be well used in cosmetic upkeep?
But back to the food. Like yesterday, at Case Paco (see separate review) we, waifu and I, opted for a four part tapas share, two hot and two cold. The Tapa Ensaladilla did come out first, as it should, but when the Tartar was presented, so was the Magret and Croquetas - too much all at once.
Them all tasty enough, but the concept of leisurely savouring the dishes was lost in the attempt to eat the last two whilst still warm. Case Pack did it better (maybe by accident) yesterday.
Still an acceptable event though and with two bottles of Alhambra and a bottle of aqua con gas, good v4m at...
