We stayed at Toc Hostel in Barcelona and had a good experience so when we came across this in Seville we though to give it a try. Unfortunately the food was underwhelming and service pretty terrible. We had the Brie and sliced meat with jam, it was ok tasting but very basic. We also had the salmon tapas which had good flavour but again very simple, garnished with dill with a western style cream dipping sauce. The waitress suggested we try paella which we did (our third try in Spain) and it was lacking flavour, very salty and the rice was raw. The rice was not al dente, rather hard and white in the middle. Plus it included small shrimp which were not deshelled. When we let the waitress know the rice was raw, she basically said too bad. Then when she overheard us talking about how bad it was, she offered to heat it up and did exactly that, returned with the remainder of the dish (most of it we had left) 3 minutes later and it was hot and still raw. Read moreI don’t like my food handled with bare hands repeatedly— first putting the Spanish omelette by bare hand on the plate, by the person who is handling cash, credit cards etc, again bare hands grabbed salad from the bag on to my plate, and after patiently waiting, the plate is shoved on front of me, no eye contact, couldn’t asked for a condiment…. no apology…. lost my appetite right there.
