Carlos roof — Restaurant in Toledo

We went to Carlos' Roof for lunch on the suggestion of a blog about a day trip to Toledo. You have to enter a nice hotel called Hotel Carlos V and the front desk staff will direct you to the elevator. We used the bathrooms on the roof and then went to the covered restaurant area.

Then the blog led us slightly astray because we thought lunch started at 1pm but the server told us 1:30. He said it was no problem but we felt a little bad. It was very windy that day with a storm hitting a few hours later so they kept the plastic sides down. Even so, the views were stunning, worth any awkwardness.

I ordered vermut and my husband mineral water and we got stuffed olives as tapas. Then for entrees I had jamón over poached eggs and patas bravas. Like a fancy Spanish breakfast. My husband had steak skewers. The server was nice enough to take our photo...

My husband and I had our rehersal dinner here in May and we could not have asked for a better venue, catering, or attention. The food was stupendous (people say it was just as good as the food at the wedding) and there were so many options to choose from. The team was so attentive to our guests with allergies or food restrictions, making sure they always were brought a full plate. The event was semi-private, but we felt as if we had our own space. The priest was running late with us at our ceremony rehersal, and they extended the event here without questions an extra hour and a half. All of the details were so thoughtful, having a sign both in the hotel lobby and on the rooftop, and the views are beatufiul. El brownie de chocolate blanco cumplió muchísimo nuestras expectativas. El helado le encantó a mí novio, un sabor muy fresco aunque a mí no me convenció tanto. Muy bien emplatado y nos lo sirvieron bastante rápido. La única pega que podríamos ponerle era que esperábamos que tuviese un poquito más de chocolate blanco, tipo sirope o algo así. Por el precio, teniendo en cuenta lo que cuestan los postres en otros sitios de la zona, a nosotros nos mereció más la pena este postre que los que comimos en otros sitios. Incluso comparandolo con un Brownie normal que comimos en otro local de la zona, este le ganaba, pese a no ser el típico brownie de chocolate empalagoso que a mí megusta. Las vistas buenísimas y el ambiente, aunque no es tan de mí agrado porque yo soy más de aislarme, es lo típico que suele gustar, una terraza bastante cuidada con música, césped artificial, luces y gente disfrutándola. Lo malo de la zona climatizada es que solo había asientos en mesas altas (al menos ahí nos pusieron), claro esto para algunas personas puede ser algo negativo. El servicio fue genial, nosotros fuimos un miércoles de enero por la noche y estaba muy tranquilo de gente (algo que yo suelo buscar a sabiendas). Había dos trabajadores y el chico fue muy amable, imagino que nos lo cortó a la mitad porque le dijimos que queríamos probarlo pero no queríamos comprar dos, así que ese detalle fue muy considerado por su parte. Además, un punto muy positivo es que tenían una zona específica para fumadores. Yo no tengo experiencia en otras terrazas pero me gustó mucho ese detalle porque a mí no me gusta nada el humo y el tabaco etc. Imagino también que eso es algo positivo para la gente que fuma, en vez de tener que salir del edificio para fumar, tienes ahí una zona apartada dónde puedes hacerlo molestando lo mínimo posible. 5 estrellas porque no tengo ninguna queja real más allá de esas mini cosas que no son importantes. Vivimos en Madrid y nos hemos planteado volver a Toledo para pasar la tarde con amigos, definitivamente, volveríamos a la terraza para poder tomar algo ahí con ellos! ✨...
