Dining at Dragon Kitchen in Toledo was nothing short of a revelation. Each dish was a masterstroke of flavor, balance, and bold spice—an experience that transcended expectations and delighted the senses from start to finish.
We began with the chicken wings, which arrived glistening and golden, their crisp skin giving way to tender, succulent meat infused with a beautifully complex spice blend. Notes of Sichuan peppercorn and floral chili danced across the palate, leaving a warm, tingling finish that was deeply satisfying without overwhelming the dish’s rich umami undertones.
The chicken and mushroom soup was a comforting, aromatic delight—earthy mushrooms bathing in a silky broth laced with hints of ginger and fragrant herbs. There was a gentle heat that bloomed slowly, allowing the delicate nuances of the soup to shine through while still delivering the spice we had requested (and were gloriously rewarded with).
The star of the table, however, was the duck fried rice—a symphony of textures and flavors. Smoky, tender pieces of duck mingled with perfectly seasoned rice, kissed with a subtle floral spice that gave each bite an exotic lift. Layers of star anise, five-spice, and a whisper of citrus zest made it utterly unforgettable.
To accompany the meal, we sipped on a sangria that was as vibrant and inviting as the Toledo sun—fruity, just sweet enough, and wonderfully balanced, pairing effortlessly with the bold flavors on our plates.
What truly elevated the experience was our exceptional waiter, a second-generation Toledano whose pride in his city and his culinary heritage was as palpable as it was contagious. His deep knowledge of the menu and thoughtful recommendations guided us toward an impeccable dining experience. He didn’t just serve us—he hosted us, enriching the evening with local insight and genuine hospitality.
Toledo, with its layered history and multicultural soul, has long been a place of fusion and flavor—and Dragon Kitchen is a shining example of that spirit. An absolute must for anyone seeking a meal that’s as bold, intricate, and soul-stirring as the...
Read moreWe went to Dragon Kitchen for our annual Christmas dinner, it was my first time at a Chinese restaurant and to be honest, I was very pleasantly surprised by the end of the night. The service was excellent, lovely and very quick to bring you anything you need. The food didn't take too long which is a must in a restaurant for me and it was incredibly tasty! We had the duck with the almonds sauce (the sauce was to die for), the beef with carrots and the Ostra sauce (just stunning if the serving was smaller than anticipated), the spring rolls which were to die for, chicken and shrimp dumplings which were quite lovely, and finally... We had the lemon chicken which was very much not good (the chicken slice itself was very thin, meanwhile the crust was absolutely soaked with "lemon sauce" which tasted like nothing and was way too watery, the whole dish is a huge no from me). The ambiance itself was quite lovely, especially the aesthetic and the furniture, with chill music and no unpleasant smells. I removed a star from the rating because of the aforementioned horrific lemon chicken and because, for the price we're paying, I simply expected a bigger ration than what we...
Read moreNice decor, decent service, food is not great.
The decor is upscale for Chinese dining, but not quite as nice as Shanghai Mama next door. The service was fine and we could get by in English. So far, so good.
We had a Chinese salad, dumplings, soup dumplings (xiaolongbao), fried rice and “chopshui” vegetables. The food overall was pretty average. The salad was the best dish, and we were glad to have salad, but there was nothing particularly Chinese about it. Their dumplings are the commercially-made frozen type, very average quality. The fried dumplings tasted strongly of garlic, the ‘soup’ dumplings had no soup in them. The fried rice was salty while the vegetables were very bland. The vegetable blend itself was good quality.
Generally speaking, Spain is not an easy place to find quality Chinese food. Dragon Kitchen fits that pattern. Put simply, their kitchen is...
