We walked past this restaurant every day on our week-long holiday to Toledo and thought it looked interesting as the only Asian restaurant in town.
On our last day we decided we would have a big lunch there. What a good decision! The servers were so attentive and friendly. We do not speak very accomplished Spanish since we were visiting for a friend's wedding and often felt quite guilty but the server spoke fluent Spanish and English which was really impressive. He appreciated our attempts to speak Spanish and we appreciated his good humour.
Most importantly, the food was so good! My partner gave high praise: best Asian meal he has ever had in a restaurant! It really was good.
We had the hot and sour soup, ordered for just 1 of us, but they gave us two spoons which was cute. Then we got the duck bundles, sui mai, xialongbao (pork and truffle! yum!), Chinese bread, and Vietnamese summer rolls. Really, really tasty and very good value for money. We also got a free cream liqueur at the end! Highly recommend!
P.S. They were so attentive that when my partner sneezed they brought him a napkin on a tiny plate because they saw me looking for...
Read morePretty good restaurant in Toledo - I was surprised to find an authentic Chinese restaurant. Not sure what is "Shanghai" about the restaurant, as the menu seemed to be just a standard Chinese restaurant menu.
We tried the €16.50 menu for lunch, which was a good value. You get to pick one appetizer, one dish, noodles/rice, one dessert, and a drink. I tried the hot and sour soup, the eggplant, the fried noodles and a vanilla ice cream. The hot and sour soup wasn't nearly sour enough, but they provided some vinegar that I added to make the flavour better. The eggplant was surprisingly good and a good portion. The fried noodles could have been a bigger portion, as fried noodles don't exactly cost a lot to make. But overall the taste was good and the price is right.
We were in quite a rush and it was taking some time for the dishes to come out after the appetizer. If you're in Toledo for a half day tour and need something quick to eat, you may be able to stop by, but it's best to let them know you're on a time...
Read moreWas there with my vegan partner. Firstly we booked a table online - only two choices, 20:00 or 22:00. We booked for 20:00 and we're at the restaurant at that time but the door was still locked and you could see that they were getting everything ready. No problem - we popped next door to have a quick drink whilst they finished off and got in to the restaurant at 20:18. We were straight away told that we should have advised if we were running late in a not too friendly tone! There was only one other table there... We then ordered - and tried to order only vegetable based food. We queried the waiter on a few dishes and were assured that everything we ordered only contained vegetables. I was therefore surprised to find duck in the rice dish ordered. Not to make a fuss, we explained that I would have the fried rice and asked for some plain rice for my partner. A shame as the quality of the food was very good but let down by the service and lack of knowledge...
