This place has a good ambiance, great food and friendly staff. The restaurant is modern and well decorated, toilets are spotless (a lot to say in most of Valencia restaurants). The terrace is nice although the street is rather noisy. The menu is extensive and interesting, and food was delicious and plentiful. While the food was great, some of the plates were not necessarily what we expected. Tip: a bit more description on the dishes would be great! (ingredients, hot/cold, mayo yes or no, etc.) Staff is fast and attentive and food comes quickly and nicely presented out of the kitchen. This place should REALLY have more staff. The poor waiters and servers were running the whole time. We sat at the terrace, which was only served by one poor lady; the terrace was almost packed ~14 tables, so trying to get a drink or order something else was virtually impossible during most of our stay. We decided to leave early and skip the last drinks. This also made the whole atmosphere a bit unpleasant because customers were anxious and permanently trying to get servers’ attention. Minus points for service are not due to the friendliness of the staff but toa lack of capacity to serve the number of tables in...

Gulliver is a solid spot in Valencia, and it wasn’t my first time there. This time, a friend and I ordered a jarra of Agua de Valencia, the city’s famous cocktail. The experience with this drink can vary, it really depends on who’s behind the bar. Sometimes, they make it right, using freshly squeezed orange juice, and it’s fantastic. Other times, they mix it with bottled orange soda or juice, which takes away from its real charm.
Agua de Valencia is an iconic yet touristy drink. Despite its name, locals don’t usually drink it, but it’s still worth trying, especially on a warm day. Traditionally, it’s made with fresh orange juice, cava, gin, and vodka, creating a refreshing and slightly sweet cocktail. It was first invented in the 1950s at Café Madrid in Valencia and has since become a must-try for visitors.
Beyond the drinks, the food at Gulliver is excellent, flavorful, well-prepared, and definitely a highlight of the place. Prices are slightly high considering the location, but overall, they’re reasonable for the quality. If you’re looking for a good meal and a classic Valencia experience, it’s a...
Read moreWe discovered this place by chance, as we were staying at a nearby hotel. Food was really good, all of it, with prime ingredients. Extra star for cage-free eggs. The decor you might not love (the gigantic bow of a ship, presumably Gulliver's, occupying most of the lobby), but okay, everyone has an opinion. Tableware was nice. What was really amazing, in the wrong sense, was the service. Waiters are equipped with a tablet and intercom, but they are helpless. After taking our order, neither our waiter or any one else for that matter, showed up again for many minutes. Drinks (after asking for them no less than three times to two different waiters) were served after we finished our first tapa. Each time we had to waive like crazy for them to notice us, but they didn't. They punched their tablets and walked around like zombies. The mâitre d' was as spacey as the rest of the staff. We were all amazed at this dissociation between kitchen and service, it seemed like they were under different managements. Would I go back? Probably,...
