I had been waiting for Valencia’s first authentic Thai restaurant to open. I’m a Thai food snob. I’ve been to Thailand many times and I can’t get enough of its cuisine. When I heard that this restaurant was opening, I immediately booked a reservation and put my order in a week in advance. Some friends invited me to join their group and we came in with lots of people to support this new place. Here’s my take:
Pros: the papaya salad, pad Thai, Tom Yum soup. These were pretty authentic and great flavor.
Cons: The red duck curry had raw meat and it was more of a red soup with some spices. Quite nasty actually. The restaurant did offer to try to redo the dish. Again, a disaster of a dish. The red curry tasted like the watered down left overs that grandma left in a pot next to the kitchen sink to soften up before washing. It was non edible. I spoke with the owners husband and he made us pay for the raw dish even tho we explained that we couldn’t eat it because it was raw and gross. He said it wasn’t his problem. The food that we did get took over 2 hours to get and some dishes never made it to the table. Some in our group had to leave and never got to eat due to the disorganization in the kitchen. I didn’t get to eat my main dish so I left hungry. The mango sticky rice isn’t authentic. Leaves much to be desired. The tables aren’t served well. The waitress get apologizing for the restaurants lack of communication and disorganization. Our group comforted her and told her it wasn’t her fault. It’s a management issue. No up keep. No ambience.
At the end, when I brought these things up to the owners husband, he didn’t show any empathy or understanding on our negative experience. I asked him if he didn’t care that his lack of good customer service might get him a low rated review. His answer was “you do whatever you want”. Such a rude service. Our combined bill was over 300 euros. We didn’t mind the cost because we came to support. What isn’t cool is that some food was not edible and the owners would not take off those dishes from the bill and he was so defensive.
What a let down of...
Read moreAs a Thai living in Valencia for nearly three years, I couldn’t be happier when the one and only authentic Thai restaurant in town opened! I went on the first night, and it certainly won’t be my last visit.
The food is truly authentic, just as you would expect from a Thai restaurant run by a native Thai. The ambience was warm and inviting, and the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. My favorite is Som Tam(papaya salad) made me feel like home, chicken satay is grilled as it should so tender, Tom Yum was full of favors, yum woon sen was so authentic, Meiang Pla(fish) top with fresh herbs and spice sauce was so fresh, seafood dishes were well cook and Pat Thai was perfect.
The restaurant owner is a sweetheart, she had done a wonderful job of pulling everything together at the opening night and genuinely open to a positive criticism.
If you love Thai cuisine, I highly...
Read moreI’m so sorry to be writing this review. I’ve been waiting and wishing for a decade for this. Then while in Thailand for 2 months I heard everyone talking favorably about this new place. I was excited to come back and hopefully get some real, authentic, delicious food.
Admittedly I only tried 5 menu items in my visit, so I can’t say nothing is good or that I didn’t have a one off poor experience but I didn’t truly enjoy anything I got and the duck reg curry curry was down right horrible. Like a fruit soup (had pineapple and grapes but not much else)
Lunch total for 2 persons was 65 euro including 1 menu del dia, which for the quantity and quality was way over priced.
I think I’ll give it one more try and try all new items in the hope there is something redeeming to save me from endless paella lunches in València but my initial opinion is grim and it truly pains me...
