1 star because google doesn't allow any lower. For the sake of this review let's say the mediocre wine and tacos each get half a star.
The bread for the pintxos was old, the fried toppings (croquetas jamon, fried shrimp) were cold and soggy.
The squid was served on a bed of tasteless cold, straight out of the fridge, potato puree. The squid itself was tough and way too salty. We took 2 bites. The waitress took it back to the kitchen but quickly came back with a message from the chef: ''it's a cold dish and the salt level is perfect.''
After that we decided to ask for the bill. What followed was a lot of blabla, then something that was sort of an apology from the staff about them wanting us to have a good time and how much they respect us. If you really respected us and wanted us to have a good time you would have removed this stuff you called food from our bill. Something about a tourist trap...
Anyways, my honest suggestion is that you take your money elsewhere. I wish I did. Walk a few minutes further down the small alleys and there's great tapas for...
Read moreReally disappointing. Had been trying to eat here for a few nights but always busy so came early tonight. New waiter was trying very hard but we were told we could only order off a short menu only to find that the table next to us was ordering much nicer food off the main tapas menu. Portions were very small , one tiny croquette was 2.20 euro, and when we asked for a little more sauce for the Patatas they bought a tiny pot out and charged us for it! We asked for the menu after we’d eaten three times (as we were still hungry) and each time our request was acknowledged and ignored. I raised it with the manager/senior member of staff who said that we’d had a new waiter and new chef but didn’t seem at all interested in resolving the issue (offering a couple glasses of wine would have cost them peanuts but would have made us feel we had been listened to and understood). Sadly, the worst meal we have had in Valencia , suggest going to Lisboa cafe or Grand Mercat for better food, better value and infinitely...
Read moreNow I have had a lot of Spanish Tapa everywhere in Spain, but Tapesndo is on my top 5 list. Now most people will say tapas are usually free if you drink in Spain, I will tell you what, I will gladly pay twice the price for the tapas here, and I add, great wine selection, and they are no more than $5 a glass. Then again you can't go wrong with Spanish wine. What makes the tapas great at Tapeando is nothing complicated, fresh ingredients and perfect balance of flavors. Every bite is a flavor explosion in your mouth from the beginning to the end. Impeccable friendly service. If the seats are more comfortable, I could eat and drink all night there! When I come back to Valencia, I will definitely come back here...
