Me and my partner came by this place on vacation and were craving something that wasn't paella so we decided to try this place because I love a good Udon noodle dish. We ordered sushi with it as well as a starter. Unfortunately, they make sushi out of noodles as well instead of actual sushi rice, this made the sushi taste extremely weird and somewhat nasty in both taste and texture. You could immediately tell that making sushi isn't their strong suit. I also asked for them if they could make a roll without soft cheese (as all their rolls had this ingredient) and the waitress told me it wasn't possible, which leads me to believe the sushi isn't fresh made and is likely made in the morning and then stored in a cooler, why else would a simple request like this be declined? However, as they themselves suggest, they are experts at making noodles. Unfortunately, the udon noodle dish (Beef udon in my case, while my partner ordered the soba noodles), were both extremely underwhelming. It barely had any taste and was extremely greasy. A pack of instant udon noodles tastes better than what they serve at this place. Even something as simple as a plate of soybeans tasted like absolutely nothing with barely any added salt. The waitress that showed us our table was clearly about to finish her shift and came off as annoyed towards us when we walked in. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is because their Miso soup was actually really good and pretty much the only tasty food I had...
Read morePerhaps it's because Wednesdays aren't typically a busy night and that's when you train new people; however, I was surprised how long it took to get our drinks after ordering them. The new person had the other waitress with her and we are fine with that but instead of serving our drinks right away she was stocking items at the kitchen. We had to ask for our drinks.
We were seated in the booths across from the kitchen and thought it was tacky that they handed us our food over the wall to the table.
The food; however, was very good.
The last thing was that instead of bringing us our bill to the table we had to go up to the cash register and pay. Made it feel like a fast food restaurant and very tacky.
We won't be back. Too many good Japonese restaurants to waste our time here even if the food is good. Service is part of...
Read moreI recommend the Chicken katsu curry, the pork buns, the gyoza and edamame, the chocolate cake with mango icecream and the cheesecake with fresh grated ginger in the crust. The lunch time deal is also worth it. There’s quite a broad Asian fusion menu (Japanese and Thai being the focus) and it’s all filling comfort food (eg ramen, pad Thai, variations on rice or noodles, meat and veggies in a large bowl). Mains are a big serve (great for hungry teenagers). Audrey was a friendly and efficient server, but during one lunchtime I went, there were insufficient servers to man both the tables and the till, although the servers were working hard to keep up with requests. The restaurant is clean and neat, but because all surfaces are hard, the sound is quite reflective making for a...
