Mesón Compostela — Restaurant in Vigo

I was much more tired than hungry and I was concerned about finding a place that would provide good service to a solo diner not ordering a large meal. The hotel manager recommended this place, he said their small plates would be a perfect solution and he was right. My small meal was delicious. Raul was a great host, friendly and with good suggestions. The service was excellent, I had time to relax and enjoy my meal without feeling rushed, but neither did I feel neglected. Was finally up for something that wasn't seafood, so this meal started with pate with herbs, some local smoked cheese and a plate of the cured ham. Had a couple glasses of Mencia with my meal. For the entree I had the Chop, served with fries and a piece of grilled red pepper. Everything was delicious and I got to play around with various combinations of the pate, ham and cheese on both the supplied bread and crackers. My second visit to Meson compostela. I ordered the same meal as my first visit, and it was just as good. I got shrimp with garlic, salad and bread. I’ve had shrimp with garlic at other places in Vigo, but to me it’s best here. The shrimp arrives sizzling in a light sauce with lots of garlic. . The bread is good here.
