Predator. A few days ago we invited a friend for dinner. As she was late I, man, waited inside while my partner was looking for her outside. During that time, half an hour I was totally neglected by the staff, they didn´t look at me nor asked me if I wanted something. The moment our friend arrived everything changed. The friend is a very attractive young lady who speaks spanish. All the charme and service possible was shown in a very masculin pushy way. As our friend is from the island and she nows these type of men, she made it very clear she was not interested. That was the moment the service changed again. There was hardly any service and it was allmost rude. By the time we were at the end of our dinner the restaurant was almost empty and our waitor was all over an Englisch lady. And I mean all over, he was stroking her, kissing her, walked back to the bar and seemed to boast to his collegues. He was not corrected by his collegues and just stood there as a predator. (I used a nastier word but it was refused bij Google). Came back to the lady who was just sitting next to our table and it all started again, kissing, stroking. It was very inappropiate, shamefull, not professional, disgusting and we didn´t know where to look, felt uncomfortable, unsafe and very akward. It looks like the staff of Liken have a very sexist view on the world. They are only interested in women and trying to get them in bed. We found it appalling and will not visit Liken again. Oh and the food...
Read moreI read with interest the five star reviews this establishment has received, which really beggars belief ! As a result of the reviews, we decided to book a table at the Liken however, I soon discovered, one man’s food is another man’s poison! On arrival we were shown to our table, which was outside, so we promptly mentioned to the waiter we had booked an inside table, however we were informed that all inside tables were occupied. We decided to accept the table offered, until I spotted a vacant inside table and mentioned to the waiter and we were promptly told that table had been specifically reserved, which was indeed the case, by myself !!! At this stage we should have got up and left, however as it was Christmas Eve, most other restaurants were indeed fully booked, so we made the mistake and remained seated ! Things soon went rapidly down hill, as the service was extremely slow and shambolic ! The starters and main courses were small albeit edible, however the main course was cold and not terribly palatable. As a result of such poor service and mediocre food, unfortunately we wouldn’t recommend this establishment, unless the sea view from outside the restaurant, is more important than the quality of food they present !
PS Remember the inside table I mentioned previously…. That table remained unoccupied for the full duration...
Read moreOverall: The fancy feel and decor of the restaurant pushed our expectations high, the food didn't live up to it. The service was okay but the atmosphere and architecture of the Liken was amazing.
Food: The food was good but not impressive enough to live up to the impression of the restaurant so it was a bit underwhelming. One of us ordered a chicken thigh. It was supposed to come with a portion of veg but came with a single carrot.
Service: They were nice but lacked some of the charm that makes other restaurants stand out. However, to be fair, our server (for most of the time) was new to the business, being his 2nd day but the other ones were still lacking. After our main, some of our plates were cleared away (as not all could be carried in one trip) but no one came back to clear the rest until over 5 minutes later. A dessert menu was offered but didn't come after another 5 minutes and we were only given 2 (we were a party of 4). Asked for the bill but didn't come for more than 5 minutes.
Atmosphere: Astonishing decor and theme with phenomenal paintings and lights that set the scene and come alive at night. Open plan with a beautiful view of the...
