Champagnebaren — Restaurant in Göteborgs Stad

Relaxed, friendly and very delicious! This is a wonderful little gem of a restaurant. The food is modern Swedish, with cheese and charcuterie trays also available. I have brought friends here and some are initially hesitant because they think the name signals a more formal and fancy place. Not so. This is a casual spot for people who simply enjoy their food and drink. They highlight small champagne producers, and are always eager to guide you or provide a taster if you are not sure what to order, but other beverages (beer, local apple juice, and wines) are also available. The courtyard during warm summer evenings transports you to somewhere closer to the Mediterranean. During fall and winter the interior with lit candles provide a warm and welcoming environment. What a beautiful place with an outstanding and amazing Champagne selection!! We didn’t count, but the number of champagnes seemed endless. So many great brands, also from small wineries with limited production. The team has a deep knowledge about every champagne they offer and their producers. The recommendations (we ordered by the bottle) were absolutely meeting our expectations. They worked with our taste and were very relaxed to open more than one bottle for testing. Visiting Goteborg for a weekend, we had to come back two days in a row. First day we were inside, second day we were outside in their beautiful garden. Snacks are delicious and pair the champagne. They have a great selection of champagne, and the platter of cold cuts and cheese was really nice. The service, however, was unfortunately lacking in both attention and service mindedness. For example, when we request a refill of the table water, it is never ok to grab a more than half empty bottle from the next table (the guests had just left) and give it to us.
