I've lived in and traveled around the Nordics for several years, so when I say much of the restaurant food there is bland and questionable (especially the "American" claims), I speak from a place of truth...and disappointment. However, Stockyard MORE than lives up to it's name and advertising. Stockyard - hands down - has THE BEST burgers in the whole of Sweden. The BEST burgers than the whole of Norway. And THE BEST burgers than the whole of Denmark. In fact, it would give some very respectable burger joints in America that I know a real fun for the money. Let's start by letting you know every house made patty is perfectly seasoned (soooo many places forget how important that is before cooking food, especially meats), but the kitchen here has it down to a science. The sear on the burger is 100% even on all sides, and the meat temp is spot on every. single. time. Juicy! Juicy! Juicy! And yes, I picked that bad boy up and ate it with my hands! How can you catch as much of that juicy deliciousness as possible using a knife and fork??!! Not this burger lover!! On the buttery brioche bun, you'll also find aged cheddar generously melted on the patties, only the best parts of leaf lettuce, a beautiful, thick slice of beefsteak tomato, and an exacting width, full slice of red onion -- most excellent companions to this amazing burger. It typically also comes with the house made burger sauce, but they'll gladly leave it off for us burger purists. Other options are adding pancetta and slow roasted pulled pork -- which also sounds magically delicious, but I'd need more people to share it with, as the double patty burger (360g) is HUGE! My only wish was that the place was 3x the size. It's just not big enough for all the awesome goodness. Come early AND often, because I predict queues running around the...
Read moreExceptionally cozy and great restaurant. We stopped there just out of curiosity because we expected it to be full. It had room for two, so we sat down and ordered a meal. You have a few burgers to choose from and a few of them also have options for which size you'd wanna get it. 180g, 360g and 520g. We chose the 180g and it was more than enough for us. And we're not people who get stuffed full. For the side dish we picked mixed fries of normal and sweet ones. We got offered sauce but we refused it because we didn't really need it. We fully expected to only get one cup of fries but they brought us two, one for each. That was a nice surprise. As for the drinks, you only have milkshakes on the menu, for other classical drinks (beer, wine and non alcoholic) you'll have to ask the waiter/waitress. The kitchen missed our order so after a bit of waiting the waitress came to apologise and offered to pay the drinks on the house which was a nice surprise. The waiting didn't really bother us that much and the food arrived very quickly after the apology. Food was delicious. The fries were perfect and yummy, the burgers as well. Meat was perfect and it was filled good with other dressings. Buns were very tasty and the right amount of soft. The bags in which it came in didn't leak oil through so the hands could stay dry if you know how to eat your hamburger. If you visit, you can expect great customer service and excellent food. Would recommend and...
Read moreWe were standing at the door waiting to be let in at 11:25. At a few minutes past 11:30 they finally opened the doors. We had decided in advance to have the hottest burger after discussing the sauce (rated at 6m scoville) with the cook a few days earlier. When we finally received our burgers and milkshakes we had waited in excess of 60 minutes. We even told the personnel that we had a meeting to get to but they made no effort to speed up our order. Several people sitting at other tables left without ever receiving their burgers.
As for the burgers themselves i would still recommend them if you ever receive them. The meat is grilled and served as medium unless medium rare is requested. There is a lack of sauce on the burger giving a lasting impressing of a somewhat dry burger. We did try the hottest burger they had but unfortunately it disappointed us, lacking in strength. The sauce itself is hot and has a sweet and slightly smoky flavour but there seems to be less than a teaspoon on each burger. Being called Gothenburgs hottest burger i feel, is misleading.
We even ordered milkshakes in fear of the hotness. The milkshakes themselves were great with a smooth creamy texture. Having said that we felt that the money spent on the milkshakes to protect us from the scorching heat of the hottest burger was completely wasted, might aswell...
