Il Merlo mackeria, café & vinbar — Restaurant in Stockholm

I stumbled upon this cute lunch place while running some errands in the area and even though I wasn’t planning to eat out, the scent flowing from this place was enough to change my mind immediately!

I had the sandwich with mozzarella and aubergine and I was absolutely not let down! As a person who has worked at cafes and probably made 100s of sandwiches, this one beat all of them! The bread was the right amount of oily in my opinion and the aubergine perfectly cooked.

The place is super cozy, giving the same kind of retro vibe as a lot of södermalm staples such as bambi with their retro chairs and tables!

Will 100% go here again, maybe for a lunch...

Beautifully cosy, candlelit space day or night; great for lunch, espresso, or an afternoon snack. Eclectic mix of contemporary Italian and "classic" Swedish decoration; very clearly the owners' passion project, and an incredible one! Sandwiches are wonderful; just enough oil to complement the fresh ingredients.

Wow, I was blown away the moment I stepped inside. Very inviting with lots of character and charm. I can fully recommend their wonderful soup served with pieces of bread, basil oil (?) and a very delicate red fruit! I also ordered a sandwich (Bergamo) to go.....
