First , I want to highlight the impressive service I have received from the kind and talented team of bartenders once upstairs. True gentlemen. However, discrimination is well alive in 2024 Stockholm when , as a solo Black woman with proper attire, I was made to believe that there was absolutely no place by the staff at the entrance, who seized me up head to toes and told me to go to their parent ( empty) bar as it was too busy and there was no possibility to wait in line. I gave the benefit of doubt as it was a Friday night after all, but my instinct told me to go back 5 minutes later. Then, I see that an older white couple very casually dressed, as well as a single male were waiting . They got in, and I politely called this staff out stating that I should be next as it shouldn't be a problem to let a solo person getting in. He reluctantly said yes and then bluntly asked me about my shawl , to which I replied it was an elegant attire ( I as he should have know in this part of town after all, and I was confirmed later on that there is no dress code). I point blank asked him if it was the reason why he denied me entrance earlier, and he swore that it was not but because the bar was full. I reminded him that we are in 2024 and it would be ridiculous to have such mentality to which he shyly agreed. He then assumed that I was American and when I infirmed this, he traded his aloof politeness for more pleasantness. Within minutes, I was then shortly allowed to go up and received stellar service....to a bar that wasn't that full and with people of various...
Read moreI hope this was a once in my life time experience. As a group of 7 - all guests of the Bank Hotel celebrating a birthday - we were not welcomed and only offered one (!!!) 3-seats-sofa although there were two further free sofas. The barkeeper's explanation was: "I have to keep them free for other guests that might come." He also did not offer any acceptable solutions and did not make any efforts to avoid us leaving the bar - what we finally did as we felt very unwelcome! It seemed as if we did not fit in the intended guest scheme!
Sorry, but as hotel guests we expect to receive seats in the hotel bar as long as there are obviously free seats. To bring it on the point: such arrogant service personell with a low degree of service-mindedness is a full miscast on a 5-star-hotel-bar and casts a poor light upon the hotel bar's image. We are really disappointed about this bad...
Read moreI came here in the evening for a couple of drinks for my last night in Stockholm. Though I wasn't staying at the Bank hotel, I had been recommended Le Hibou and it did not disappoint. As a solo, female guest I was made to feel welcome instantly by the staff, who gave me the choice to sit on one of the luxurious sofas or up at the bar (I switched it up throughout the evening!). This bar is elegant, classy and the drinks were incredible! I highly recommend ordering from the perspectives cocktail menu. The barmen were wonderful and friendly, taking the time to explain all about your drink as it is served to you. I arrived once it was already dark, so I didn't get much of the view over Stockholm - but as the ambience and vibe in the bar were already so lovely, I didn't mind at all. A 10/10 visit...
