The Beefeater. One of my favourites bars in Södermalm. The small bar located at the start of Götbacken if you are entering Södermalm coming from Gamla Stan is a traditional stop by place for people living around. I usually find some of my neighbours sitting there. A large variety of beer (draft and in bootle), drinks (not many wine thought, I think they might have 2 reds and 2 whites), and a modest but decent menu of starters and main dishes. Although the place is quiet small it feels that there always a spot to sit down and have a beer and talk with the friends. During the summer they open a lovely balcony section on the side but my favourites are the small tables by the main entrance facing Götbacken. A lot of people passing by during those few weeks of sun and 20 Celsius (yes, that’s summer in Sweden). Beefeater is one of what we call “sunkhaket” or “sunkbar”, a Swedish cultural tradition of bars with cheap cold beer (called storstark). Read moreA good place if you want to drink beer. But if you want food - AVOID THIS PLACE! The meals are heavily over-priced and all of them DRENCHED in oil. Very big boring and dry hamburger bun. Do NOT order the garlic bread - it felt like it was dipped in frying oil, had a grey-ish color from the steak pan and you could even taste the metal from the steak pan - gross. And as I said very over priced for the horrible quality of food. Will NEVER order food again here. The service was OK, tired and...
Read moreIf you like good beers, very friendly and helpful but very stressed waitrisses that dosen'r reallt have the time for you. In my case she stressed me while I made my order.
If you're looking for a nice meal wort 150 - 300 SEK, this is not the place for you! The pasta were very nice but it's not exclusive nor gives it a "woaw" feeling, it's just pasta. The meat was tastless with to much pepper and the fries tasted very dry. Some positive things about the meetplate was that it were very red, the sidesallad were nice and the corndog were nice aswell!
I'd say, if you go here, go here for the amazing enviroment and "old pub" feeling. Or for the very well filled beer...
