We had lunch at Blå Dörren today, and it was quite an experience. The atmosphere is definitely unique - very dark, with an old-fashioned interior. It’s also extremely noisy; you can hear everything, from clinking dishes to the busy staff rushing around. While the setting is interesting, the prices are way too high for what they offer. We paid 400 SEK for two dishes, and to our surprise, we were even charged for tap water, which is usually free in other restaurants.
I ordered deer meatballs with potatoes and was really disappointed. It was prepared without any care or flavor, and the deer meatballs tasted nothing like what they should—they were dry and unappetizing, almost like cat food. If you want to try traditional Swedish meatballs and potatoes, I’d honestly recommend IKEA instead. Their version is much tastier, with better sauce and seasoning.
One positive thing was the freshly baked bread they serve - this was a nice touch. My husband ordered a dish for 190 SEK, and what he received was a strange, finely chopped, greasy meal that no one would want to eat, even the next day. It wasn’t crispy, just overly oily, and the beetroot on the side was sour in a way that didn’t seem right. Hopefully, our stomachs will be fine after this meal.
Overall, I wouldn’t recommend Blå Dörren if you’re looking for good food at a reasonable price. It’s simply...
Read moreMy friend and I came here during lunch and tried their lunch menu. We had the salmon fillet and meatballs. The meal comes with a drink and sides (self-service. The options were various kinds of salads, bread, beans and pasta).
When we first entered we were a little confused but the staffs were really friendly and helpful. The staff by the bar motioned to us and gave us an english menu. We were told that we had to order by the bar first before getting a seat. The lunch menu changes everyday and there is always a vegetarian option. You pay first, get a number and they will serve you your order accordingly.
The food came fast and everything was delicious. We were particularly impressed with the sauces thats were packed with flavour.
Overall, it was a pleasant experience and definitely a bang for your buck. We saw some negative reviews prior to coming but considering that we came during the peak lunch hour, while they were so busy, and still received good service, I do think some of the comments maybe a little harsh. I believe each person is expected to order something as the free sides are “buffet-style” so it’s weird not to order a main and still potentially...
Read moreGreat food, terrible service (by one guy). Wanted to try authentic swedish meatballs and did my research about stockholm before coming here. The Italian waiter with glasses was extremely rude, unfriendly and expected a tip at the end. He wouldn't take our orders despite us calling him multiple times and made us wait quite a bit. But he was very friendly to the table next to us, a group of very young girls. Sus. The other worker said only this guy can take orders. The restaurant was not busy at all and we were a party of 3. I wanted to try the meatballs and drink and my friends were accompanying me. We stayed for max 20 minutes but he made many comments about how it's inappropriate for us to just order for one person... We didn't even touch the free toast. I genuinely wanted to try the meatballs but his attitude really put us off. Terrible service. Other waiters seemed better but we had the misfortune of being served by this individual. *Edit: saw some other reviews on TripAdvisor about the inconsistent/bad service, guess we got...
