Read moreMy daughter has celiac disease. She can’t eat any gluten product.
Today we went to this shop in Barfusserplatz, Basel. I wanted to buy their “glutenfrei” chocolate cake. I buy this cake from them all the time.
Today I went to theshop again to buy it. And this is what I have seen: Gluten free cake sitting at the same plate with a gluten product.
I asked the seller how this was possible. She was surprised to hear from me that when a gluten free product sits next to a gluten product, contamination can happen.
Later on she told me that this gluten free cake is produced in the same production line with other products. She also argued that in your website this fact is stated. I went to their website and read it very carefully and I see that nothing is stated.
If this product is produced within the same facilities of gluten products, they should mention this everywhere because contamination can occur.
If the cake is really gluten-free and no contamination happened then they should educate your employees and they should not put this cake next to gluten products.
Can you please let me know if the cake is really gluten free and not contaminated at the production facilities.

Read moreI come here every morning. When the Gipfeli is good it’s not only the best in Basel it’s fantastic. But quite regularly the Gipfeli, mini pan au chocolate , lack consistency in how they are baked. It’s not only those two products but also the Moelleux au chocolate . When that was first introduced it was fantastic , oozing with chocolate and other times it’s like a Tennis ball. Which suggests different bakers, probably because they are rotating as to which products they are baking . I have tried several times complaining to the manager even in writing and have complained even to the head baker but basically it falls on deaf ears. In my opinion regardless of which baker is on the Gipfeli or another produce, it should always have the exact same quality! I don’t know why they don’t have quality control.
Sandwiches are super and recommended
All the service staff there are really, really super, friendly . helpful …always smiling even...
