Chez Sami — Restaurant in Geneva

After years of people telling me good this place was I finally went for dinner. And they were right.

I went with a friend early Thursday evening soon after they opened for dinner. We didn't have a reservation but we were seated immediately. If we had come a bit later we probably would have waited because it filled up fast.

We chose to order a bunch of mezze instead of main dishes. Hummus was so good and very smooth. The babaganoush was excellent, it had that smoky flavor that I can only get from grilling the eggplant. It's called something that starts with an 'm' here though, not babaganoush. We also got the fattoush and tabouleh - both very good and fresh, but a little too acidic for me. My friend had burned her tongue earlier and they were difficult for her to eat. We also got something with lamb, and the sambousek with cheese, and the kibbe. All of them were excellent.

I'm glad I finally went, and I will for sure...

The only reason this place doesn’t get 1 or 2 stars is because of the woman that currently works there, she was my server in the beginning, she answered my questions, and took my order. After that a man took over and it was horrible. I got weird looks from the male staff, they would look at me and say something in their language, and laugh. Also, when I asked for the check and a to go box, the male server took forever to bring it, and it wasn’t even busy. I just feel like I was being ignored compared to the service the other 3 parties that was there got. Not to mention I was the only black personality there, and when he was boxing my food up, he only boxed half and threw away the rest….. smh, that place was to pricey to be wasting...

-Too expensive for what it is -Tells you they don't have the dish you want anymore. I take the menu and here this dish magically appears -A portion of french frites for 6 was holding in a sized 0.5L bowl -They push you to take the most expensive dish even though you repeat them you don't want it -They spilled out of 1/2 of one of our beers, they didn't bring a new one but said while laughing : "this is how we serve it in Belgium"... ok The food is good, but the service is really poor.
