We were a party of three. The service was truly appalling - the waitress was completely out of her depth and unable to get us a bottle of wine that we ordered without going to the owner and chef of the establishment who was making the pizzas (apparently he was responsible for getting all the wines…). As a result we had to wait for over 15 minutes to get our bottle which, when it eventually arrived, was sour and quite off (it was an Austrian wine from 2012 which had suffered from being stored in a space which must have had extreme temperatures). We turned the wine down and asked for it to be replaced by another bottle, but our waitress told us that she was not able to acquiesce to this request as the owner and chef had to try the wine himself in order to decide what was going to happen next. To our surprise we were told after five minutes by our waitress (the chef never bothered to speak to us directly) that he'd been in the restaurant business for 19 years and that he considered our bottle to be absolutely fine and that therefore we had a choice either to finish it or presumably not to drink it. We were also told we could buy a new bottle of wine, if we really couldn't cope with the one we had ordered, but that even so the chef would be charging us for the bottle that we had rejected. We told the waitress that we thought this was extraordinary behaviour and that we had never come across this kind of poor service before, but it was quite clear that the man who made the pizzas made the decisions and he was very clearly not going to change his mind. Our bill for three pizzas and two salads and a bottle of wine (which we sent back to the kitchen because it really was completely undrinkable) came to SwFr 145. Needles to say this is not a restaurant experience that we would wish upon anybody. Having visited Switzerland many times, a country fabled for its professionalism in catering and high standards of service, we would thoroughly recommend you look elsewhere for your meal in Grindelwald. This restaurant is a discredit to Swiss...
Read moreI was at this place 3 weeks before and initially I didn’t felt it is going to be crazy at last. I never write to any earning people like this.
But unfortunately this has to be informed and help more people. Basically this place is not 5 star place, so mostly people who visitors are from casual tourists. So people don’t know about this restaurant at the first and their customised rule which I never seen anywhere.
I order medium 31” inches pizza for myself, my spouse and 5 year old kid. It just a small meal which said 24 Swiss franc as per menu. But at last they charge 36 Swiss franc. While ordering they said something about this and we were not clear honestly as we never face such treatment anywhere in the Europe. Because already we are fed up with order taking time. This should be put it upfront somewhere or at least in their menu. I am not sure how these people can charge because we don’t drink, they should have some moral in their business.
And second thing is about over all order time and pizza delivery time to table almost took 1 hour, in between when we asked they given kind of raciest reply and we felt like because if we Asian origin they treating like that.
If they don’t like Asian or south Asian people they can simply put some board and say we are not invited.
I don’t recommend this place at all specially I am not sure how they legally bind with their business while...
Read moreSuch a Delicious restaurant! We were on our way to the First Cliff Walk and happened to find this place on Google maps. Thank goodness! It's fairly difficult to find a reasonably priced restaurant anywhere in Switzerland, so to find this place was a complete shock to us.
We arrived about an hour before their lunch session was over. There was only about three other parties at the venue, so the seating was pretty open. Since we visited during the winter season we were wearing our heavy winter jackets, but luckily they have coat racks to hang your items. The hostess, who was also our server, was very sweet and accommodating. She provided us with an English menu and answered any of our questions in regards to the food or drinks. Our food came out within 15 minutes and oh man was it delicious! If you love thin and crispy pizza, then this restaurant will be your obsession. Every ingredient on this pizza tasted fresh and the spicy oil served alongside gave the pizza a wonderful kick. We spent roughly about 36 francs for the medium Pizza along with a beer and alcoholic cider (which is a pricey compared to U.S. pricing, but definitely reasonable compared to local pricing). The medium pizza was definitely enough for a party of two since it had...
