This evening, we ate at the brasserie, and while the culinary offerings were delightful, significant service issues and cleanliness shortcomings overshadowed the experience. The dishes, particularly the tartar were exceptionally prepared.
However, the service left much to be desired. From the onset, our drinks were brought out after the starters, and further attempts to order additional beverages were overlooked (got my glass of wine when I had almost finished my meal). The staff brought condiments to our table late, well after we had finished the dishes that required them. Most disappointing was being informed that we could not order dessert because the restaurant needed to free up the table, a policy that was not communicated to us when we were seated. The lack of prior notice regarding time constraints at the table felt unfair and poorly managed.
Additionally, the cleanliness of the venue did not meet expectations. The dining table Was sticky, the floor dirty and the menu pages were stuck together . This, combined with the inattentive service, significantly detracted from the otherwise excellent food. I hope the restaurant addresses these service and cleanliness issues to truly reflect the high quality of...
Read moreWe made a reservation for 13.30 for lunch yesterday. We arrived 10 minutes before our reservation.
It took ages for the servers to take our drinks and food order. Drinks came with the starters. Because they took so long to take our order and bring our starters and drinks, the server said the kitchen was closing and brought out our mains while we were all still eating our starters. I have never experienced this in a restaurant and felt it was incredibly bad service. Just because the servers ignored us and didn’t take our order in a timely fashion does not mean that the paying guests should have to be compromised. By the time I got to eating the main, it was cold. This was really disappointing.
Furthermore, the fries with my main were cold, overcooked and hard (I was unable to eat them), and when we asked the servers for something (eg. bread or sauces) we would need to ask multiple servers as they seemed unable to follow through with the request.
I usually really like brasserie montbenon. This was the first time I went for lunch and even though the terrace is beautiful, the service needs to improve. Or at least extend your kitchen hours for lunch to accommodate your poorly...
Read moreOne of the best dining experiences in Lausanne. The setting is unbeatable, with sweeping views over the gardens, Lake Léman, and the mountains. It feels both elegant and relaxed at the same time.
We ordered a mix of seasonal dishes and everything was spot on. The Vol-au-Vent with wild mushrooms was rich and comforting, the local fish dishes (filet de féra and truite) were delicate and perfectly cooked, the seasonal salads with chanterelles, burrata, and fresh tomatoes tasted like summer on a plate, the shawarma was full of flavor, and the steak with béarnaise sauce was perfectly done with vegetables and the most delicious roasted potatoes. The balance between freshness, local ingredients, and indulgence is exactly what you want from a brasserie of this level.
Service was excellent, attentive, warm, and perfectly timed without ever feeling rushed.
Whether you come for a long lunch on the terrace or a dinner with friends, this place captures the best of Lausanne with beautiful views, local produce, and a lively atmosphere. Highly recommended.
Big thanks to...
