Had the WORST experience here. Probably the worst service we had ever experience during our trip to Switzerland. From the moment we came in the way the servers talked to us was very very rude. At one point they didn’t gave us any baby chairs for my baby to sit since they said the stove was beside the table and we weren’t able to put any baby chairs there. And we were okay tbh, no hard feelings. We sat our baby in the corner with a pillow so she’ll feels comfortable. Then one of the waitress came and asked for the pillows for her own guests. And guess what? She took our baby’s pillow and gave them to her guests to sat on it. Like come on guys? For real?
When the waiter was taking our order, he said sth that actually got me annoyed. He said things like, “i think you don’t need to order kids menu. Since your baby doesn’t look like she ate a lot” 🫠 Guys come on, despite your legendary restaurant, I think service comes first.
Maybe it’s because we’re tourists so they were discriminating us? Idk. But anyway, we paid the same price as the locals so that shouldn’t be an excuse.
Foods were good, but not extraordinary. I think there are way better places to experience Luzern’s local cuisine rather than Old Swiss House tbh. Or maybe I’m just a bit bias though, cos service was TERRIBLE. Never coming back here.
Ok just read the reviews and seem YES they seem VERY RUDE to asians. Asians tourists, avoid this place at all costs....

Before tasting the food, have a look to the interior decoration which were mostly dated back to 17th century. Hand-carved wall panels, silverware, and antique collections make people feel like sitting inside a restaurant coming back to 17th century.
Lobsterbisque is absolutely delicious and strong flavour in lobster with a touch of cognac.
Chateaubriand is soft and tender with beef flavour. The veggies coming up in the dish is also sweet. I guess it’s also because Swiss ingredients are good and the chefs has a precise cooking technique to express the maximum natural flavour of ingredient itself.
De-Luxe Wienerschnitzel (veal schnitzel) is a classic Swiss dish. What make this disc special in this restaurant is that this dish is cooked next to dinning table, next to you. No wonder when the time you walk in this restaurant, you can already smell an aroma of butter and cream because nearly which table would order this dish.
Don’t forget to go to toilet when you are in this restaurant, because you will pass thru a staircase holding lots of photos of celebrities and famous people with their signature and comments.
The serving portion is big, so I would recommend you to come with an empty stomach....

In terms of food, the first impression is terrible. The restaurant has a weird rule that you must order one main course per person and that you're not allowed to share - they wrote that down explicitly on the menu in a rather stingy and bizarre move. I'm an Asian woman with a relatively smaller appetite - so far I have had trouble finishing the normal European portions. I chose to order two appetisers instead since I'm not for wasting food. However, the waitress told me I am NOT ALLOWED to do so. I never expected a restaurant to not allow their patrons the freedom to choose what they want to eat and what they want to order. If they're that worried about the money they'll pocket at the end of the day, it's even more bewildering since it actually costed more when I ordered two appetisers instead of one main course. The last time I was forced to order a certain amount of food was when I was ordered cheap street noodles in Hong Kong which costed USD $3... Not a so-called famous restaurant where they charge you USD $38 for an appetiser.
Not to mention the service was lacking. No one offered to take our coats when we came in. This is a pretty basic service...
