YuXiangYuan 御香苑 — Restaurant in Montreux

We had a terrible experience last night. The place was not kept in a good condition. Lighting was out. The place was dimmed and not in a good way. We ordered hotpot and had to wait for 40 mins. Finally the soup and the frozen meats came out. All low quality. The chicken meat was sever cooked (instead of fresh to cook in hot pot). The smell was awful. I am confident the chicken was about to go bad so they cooked it to cover the bad condition. At the end we walked away and paid 100 euros for what they brought out without eating anything. We just wanted to get away and not spent a min longer. 100 euros was for 2 small bottles of beer 1 big bottle of water (water qlasses are wet) 3 plates of frozen meat and the chicken 2 plates of vegetable I saw another Chinese family returned a food and walked out with dissatisfaction too. I should have left when I saw that. So that was our mistake. The lady said they only have 1 person in the kitchen. I believe the whole place was run by husband (cooking), wife (taking orders& serving). No extra...

The owner was kind but sorry I have to leave a bad review. Since we walked in the restaurant only had one table but when we proceeded to order the lady came to ask if we were ready and I thought she would take it but then she told us to write on a piece of paper for her. After that the drinks came in can with no glass and were provided with a straw. The food was the most horrendous part. 22Fr for a few pieces of ribs that barely had any meat on and it looked something like you would feed to your dog. The plate had barely any food, looked completely unappetising and tasted so so bad. Moreover, the price I mentioned didn't include rice and we had to pay 2Fr extra for rice. Five years living in Switzerland this was the first time that I spent so much money for barely edible food. I really think that this restaurant is a scam please dont...

I have no idea what we were thinking. But no means no.

For an Indian origin person whose fav cuisine is eating Chinese from any province in every country, this is my biggest disappointment!

Sweet and spicy chicken, which was sweet and 0 spicy. For like maybe 2 diced chicken thighs.

Beef red curry, if you got the packet and made it, would be better.

Cantonese rice was an average portion

2 glasses of wine 10cl @5CHF average

65CHF.

Super expensive for VERY VERY low quality food and average service.

It's strange we always judge a restaurant by the type of crowd and the Google reviews.

I felt like there was something we missed this time.

4.0 rating? Really?
