After trying several matchas in other popular cafes in Zurich, it only made sense to visit a dedicated place for matcha. For a start, after a fair share of matchas tried in the city, this is the best for my personal taste. Not quite like Japan, but overall superior to other places. In a place like Tokyo you can find great matcha for less than half the price - but a comparison shouldn’t be made - just don’t enter expecting the same thing, but stay positive. I was so happy to hear about their wide range of plant-based milk (I just don’t get how nearly all other places in ZH just have oat milk which covers the taste fully and it truly is not healthy) and was happy with my warm soy matcha latte, as the flavour was there - but not just the flavour: they use ceremonial matcha, in a vibrant green colour ( other matchas I tried elsewhere were light green even close to yellow), and their milk is also good (I am not a fan of Oatly and I am referring to soy milk). I also consider it a big plus that they make it right in front of your eyes, in a very professional way. I’ve seen that matcha in other places was often stored in glass jars (very bad for light exposure) or directly frothed without proper tools (I even found lumps). The price is tbh in line with what other cafes give you and I am happy to pay slightly more, because I get more. Good matcha powder costs, and the one at The Matcha Club seems to be good. A mention on the service: I have read quite some reviews stating that service wasn’t nice. My first experience wasn’t too nice as I wasn’t greeted, and staff was busy speaking with each other, but this happened once only and when the cafe was very full.Everyone can have their personal matters. Otherwise I have been greeted with a smile and service was friendly. Definitely recommended also for many...

Before we ordered I asked the nice blonde girl what exactly some items were and she listed everything in perfect English and was very helpful, you could tell she knew what she was talking about. Overall the staff is very nice and eager to make your experience worth it.
We had the Vanilla Gloss Matcha and Sea Salt Maple Matcha. You can see them making the matcha and they use very high quality ceremonial grade matcha powder. The whole experience is awesome to witness. We also ordered banana bread and a chocolate chip cookie (which is glutenfree).
The Vanilla Gloss Matcha is a favorite for a reason, just the right amount of sweetness but not too overpowering. I loved the Sea Salt Maple Matcha, it was just the right enough of salty, it really brings out the flavor of the matcha. The matchas are mildly strong, for the price you get a great cup of green heaven! 💚
I have bought the matcha bowl, chasen, chasen stand, matcha scoop and of course the matcha powder to make matcha at home from The Matcha Club. The bowl is so nice, I have gifted them to people and get compliments all the time.
I will always go back to The Matcha Club, it's just a great...
Read moreMy experience at this café was disappointing from start to finish. The staff appeared bored and uninterested, which did not leave a good first impression. Additionally, I felt I was treated differently because I am not a blonde white person.
The drinks were overpriced and underwhelming. Charging over CHF 10.5 for a small, ice-filled drink is unacceptable. As someone from Japan, I know what authentic matcha should taste like, and this fell far short, especially at such a high price point.
The seating area is extremely limited, making it difficult to find a place to sit. The space used for merchandise could have been better utilized for additional seating.
Overall, this café is overhyped. The matcha was mediocre at best, with too much cold foam and ice, and not enough authentic Japanese matcha flavor. I would not recommend it and will take my business elsewhere...
