You know it’s authentic food when you’re the only Asian inside during lunar new year....
We reserved a table here as all the other Asian restaurants I could find for lunar new year were booked. We were placed at a long table in between two couples. The best part is that the chairs were too high and the table was about the same height as the chair. This being said, your either have to sit far from the table to allow your legs to go under the table or squeeze them and cry under the table. As I tried to enter between the two couples, one man couldn’t even scoot in more as the table was suffocating his legs already and had to stand up for me to go inside.
The ambience is, eh, not welcoming. It was loud and the service is rushed. They rush to bring food out and also rush to get you out the door for a higher turnover. I honesty did not enjoy my time here. Children screaming in the background and running around the entire restaurant also added to the ambience.
That being said, the food is of good quality but all the dishes are dim sum sized, even the main courses. I left a bit disappointed for the food to price ratio. The dessert menu also did not sound appetizing and I walked over to co chin chin for dessert and stood at the bar as they were booked for lunar new year. At least they have sticky rice with coconut milk/cream and not only with...
Read moreWe went for the Dim Sum and they were good and tasty. Although, for us, the service made the experience terrible. While I was waiting for my friend who was stuck in traffic they came 3 times to ask me what I want to drink in this demanding way. The 4th time I ordered something in order for them to stop asking. Then they have major communication issues as we ordered our food and drinks with one waiter and had to give the order again to the other waiter because the first one was "only allowed to bring drinks". The food cam quickly and it was tasty. But after we said that we had enough with the 3 platters of dumplings, they became somewhat rude. I think it is quite insolent to ask for those small dumplings 14-16Sfr and then be rude if one does not order more. We ended up paying over 50Sfr for 11 dumplings, water and a coke. Seeing as it was good, but not excellent and the service was far off, I was greatly disappointed. Even for Zurich prices, this was...
Read moreWe were very happy with our visit. Best loved dish, Xiao long bao dumplings. My 2nd favourite pan-fried pork with homemade hoisin sauce + chili. 3rd shrimp toast, a very surprising dish. I liked the flavour of the Hongxi stewed beef with pakchoi, wonderful sauce. I just thought the meet was a bit dry. Siu Mai dumplings tasted different than what I am used to. Next time I'd rather try the har gau, the taro and the the chicken in Lotos leave. The stewed tripe was good but I'd add some vinegar to it. The Chinese broccoli was good, too. However I like it when there's oystersauce on the Chinese broccoli. I liked the Shangri-la pale ale.
The staff was very nice. I'll come back and try more tasty dishes.
It's super hot inside in July but maybe that adds to the feeling of...
