After seeing such a high rating on Google, we decided to go there for dinner. Their dinner menu consists only of cold stuff like maki rolls, sushi and sashimi. We had sea urchin, octopus, king fish, salmon roe and squid sushi. I have to say that it was one of the worst sushi experiences. Everything was not fresh, if you are experienced in Japanese food, from the look of the kitchen and fish display, you immediately would have understood that this restaurant was not up to the standards of a proper sushi kitchen. When salmon roe is fresh, the eggs are nice shinny orange color, firm and they pop in your mouth; theirs was soggy and soft which is the sign of being far from fresh. Uni (sea urchin) is a Japanese delicacy that usually is served in a good, authentic Japanese restaurants, so if a restaurant can not even serve basic nigiri sushi, uni should not even be offered. Their tako (octopus) was dark in color and chewy which again when fresh is crisp, bright in color, easy to chew. Their Nuri quality was also not good: it was chewy, soggy, just opposite the good one which should be crisp, dry and never chewy, like a gum. Miso soup was ok, the seaweed salad was nice. The service was below average.
For 9 pieces of horrible sushi, 2 miso soups and 2 seaweed salads. together with one beer, the bill came to 100 euros. I would not recommend it to any one, who knows what food...
Read moreQuite bad. We went there for my birthday dinner, as I heard great reviews of the place. Sadly, it was a pure disappointment: only fried food all over (hard to call yourself an izakaya if the only options that are not sushi are all deep fried - and we took 4 dishes), not even well fried (super oily and heavy). All dishes ended up tasting the same because there was the same sauce (couldn't identify, maybe takoyaki sauce? a bit sweet) on all dishes (and again, they were all fried, so they all tasted like oil - couldn't tell the difference between the aubergine and the soft shell crab). We took also 2 uramaki, and they thought it was a good idea to put fried onion on top of that too. What to say: I was so disappointed that I didn't let my partner offer me the dinner as a bday dinner and preferred to pay my half, which was btw around 95CHF for 2 starters, 1 uramaki and 2 beers each. Outrageous considering the food.
The personnel was super nice and the atmosphere as well, but the food unfortunately far from being remotely decent and remotely authentic...
Read moreThe food was tasty but the service was extremely slow. We went on a Thursday evening and it wasn't super busy as it was already 20.00. We ordered 3 inside out rolls, a plate of salmon sashimi and a vegetable dish. The first inside out roll was served within 15mins. Then we had to wait another 15mins for the next roll, then 20 mins for the third roll. We received the sashimi at 21.20. There is no cooking involved with sashimi, why did it take so long? Most customers had already left and it wasn't busy. I would have expected to receive all my dishes and also finished eating by then!!
Definitely not a place to eat at if you...
