We arrived at the hotel in the afternoon and we were given our room key but we were not allowed to access our room yet as it was earlier then the check in time. We arrived back to the hotel at 10pm after touring Zurich and we were unable to get into our room as the key would not work. The key allowed us access to the hotel but did not allow entry to the room. It is important to note that there is no one at the reception desk (which is actually the desk for the restaurant downstairs) after 8pm. We found a note in the room which stated a contact number and email in case there is an emergency and we need to contact someone. The note also went on the state that there is a charge for calling the emergency contact number of 50CHF. We called the number countless times only to receive no response. We also sent a email out at 10pm and followed up a hour later. We received no response. What is the point in a emergency contact number and email if no one responds? As a result, we had to book another room at another hotel just for the night which cost us even more due to the last minute booking for our one night in Zurich. We had called the next day to ask for a refund. We did receive a refund a week later, but regardless the inconvenience at night was very frustrating. I've never been to a hotel that has no one at front desk after 8pm, and charges if you need to call the hotel for assistance. If you look further down on the reviews, you'll find that this is not the first time this has happened. I'd highly recommend not booking this hotel to avoid the same problem possibly...
Read moreThe Yard is really showing off, on their web page, trip advisor and booking.com. What you don't get is they offer zero infrastructure for business travellers. They neither have a parking lot as advertised on booking.com, nor is the bar/restaurant open at all on Monday, or Tuesday for a drink at 11:30 PM. I arrived at 06:30 PM, no one there, I called the central phone number (0,5 € per minute) to find out that booking.com is frequently over booking the place (they just got 5 rooms!!!!!!!!). I was somehow lucky that another guest didn't show up, so I haven't been homeless for 2 nights. The host finally showed up (really nice guy) after 90 minutes, however, my evening has been screwed up already, missing an important appointment. I don't need anyone to clean my room after 1 night if the Nespresso caps didn't get stocked up - needless to say -...
Read moreWe were unable to check in for our stay at The Yard. There is no reception desk, instead they have a kiosk that was broken. We tried calling and no one answered. I sent an email that has still not been acknowledged. The kiosk is in an alley way near garbage storage. Imagine how pleasant it was to stand there for an hour in the August heat with flies all around just hoping someone would come out of the building or respond to us. We ended up hauling our luggage around with us on a tour all day and paying for a different hotel. We have still not heard anything back from The Yard. Do not book this hotel - there is no guarantee you will ever see your room and finding alternatives at the last minute is challenging and expensive. It was a disappointing end to our...
