To literally soak in history, i.e. take a bath at art-nouveau Gellert or Ottoman-era Rudas bathhouses in Budapest, is a very enchanting experience. You can relax and feel the power of passed times and people lived in it simultaneously. I've wished that I could as well have that experience at Marshal Zen Garden, formerly a hotel where Japanese kamikaze pilots planned their ultimatums, in Beitou. It worked, and it was very relaxing, but it fell just short of being an enchanting experience.
For NT$2000, you can bath and relax in your own private room with a view of Beitou and distant surrounding mountains for 2 hours. It was a cloudy day so the view wasn't really sublime, nonetheless it was still fine. I felt rejuvenated after the bath, but I still felt contemporary, not time-warped, as the decoration of the bath is quite plain. Otherwise it's wide and contains all the items you'll need.
The elderly ladies who accompanied me to the entry of the private room are particularly helpful, though they didn't speak English. The front desk staff spoke basic English and was courteous with my enquiries. Everybody's gone when I finished the bath, which was after their closing time, but there's really nothing to find fault about that. I was still able to leave...
Read moreThis restaurant left behind the originals, but renovated too much. Materials of the building were something i would appreciate if can maintain as close to its original look as possible. As this place does have its good history however is becoming another coffee room. This building was originally built by japanese government which was occupied by KMT after WW II. Such long history and story behind shall deserve better maintanance. Service in this place is excellent and friendly. Quick and exact are 2 words directly pop up in mind. Snacks is tricky. They try to use 2 specific chinese snacks which are from the town where the house-arrested person was from. As KMT and the person were from China, thus, hardly link to Taiwan in my view as a tourist. For historical point of view that i understand their interesting offer tho. Snacks do taste average as the level of Taiwan street food is generally in certain level for snacks. So it could be challenging or even not in fair measure for this shop. Price can be...
Read moreWorkers at dinner site are too lazy and has no customer oriented service by not accepting us into lunch. We arrived at the place around 1pm for lunch, but the service people won’t allow us to go for lunch instead of having us go for afternoon tea, which there’s not much to fill my hungry and the food is ordinary. I just want to say workers are too lazy to work and serve. All they care is to ensure they can finish job by 2:30pm, their break . There ‘s no service attitude with customer oriented mindset! We are arriving right on time but was told However, I have to give credit to the owner who decorated this place which giving the place a vibe of relaxing and touch of female charm ! But, remind the owner to retrain your staff with manor of...
